I have a padlock with a 5mm diameter shackle. Will it fit in the loop of this box when the hasp is in place?

A 5mm lock will unfortunately not fit. The loop itself would fit a lock with around 5-6mm, but when closing the chest there is not enough space because of the metal flap. There is however a suitable padlock included with 3 keys (see pictures). If you prefer using our own padlock it should not exceed 4mm in diameter. Does this actually lock? do you think this would be easy to break into?

Thank you very much for your question. The chest comes with a lock with 3 keys. You can use it to lock the chest (and lock things in the chest). However, the chest should not be seen as a secure safe and if someone uses a lot of force or with appropriate tools the chest could be opened. If you have further questions please feel free to ask.
