This clock looks amazing! The gears actually work too. Several reviews say the gears are loud. While they do make noise they are quieter than my fish tank pump and I cannot hear them over that unless I am right next to it. If the noise does bother you you can take the batteries out of the gear compartment and the clock still works.

The clock is absolutely gorgeous! The clock mechanism takes one battery, and works fine.But to make the gears spin requires more batteries. I'm no dummy, but:The case holds 4 batteries.All the springs are on the right, which is confusing.The injection molded directions say (from top to bottom) +left, +right, +left, +right.A sticker in the bottom compartment says +LEFT?!There was an extra battery sticker floating around in the box?!The case is designed so the batteries all end up in series, so I ignored the single sticker, and installed the batteries following the injection molding directions which seems sensible. CLOCK STARTED TO SMOKE AND BATTERY CASE MELTED!How should the batteries be installed?!?!UPDATE: I spoke to the manufacturer, and they said this is not a known problem. Sounds like the wires are crossed inside this unit. They recommend returning immediately. I will do that, and I'll update this review if I order a replacement.

This is a very fun clock and quite the conversation piece. However, it does not have an on/off switch and it is pretty loud. (I thought it was raining out). Aside from that, I’d recommend it but keep it in in a spare room.

The clock is very nice but the whole center all blends in and unless you walk up to it it's hard to see what time it is

Beautiful clock the gears are a bit noisy and received with a broken fin when I inspected it for a gift. I will fix the fin but for what I paid for it,it should’ve came in pristine.

lots of compliments .. works well arrived well packed takes 4 batteries if you want the gears to move..

My dad loves to fish. I bought this because it’s quirky and reminded me of him. It looked fun and it has not disappointed. It looks as good as the picture and the time is accurate. It runs on 3 aa batteries.
