Worked great easy installation and perfect fit

Replacing from my previous shifter. Installed right into place and just had to adjust the limit screws a tiny bit.

The hanger bracket broke after one week. Is plastic it's not really made for a mountain bike that can go semi off-road It just poor design and cheap.

Kid is super hard on his bike. So when he breaks stuff, he gets to fix it. He is 12. Installed the first one just right but failed to adjust the stops befor the test ride. After destroying the first one and ordering a second, he got it on AND adjusted correctly. It works well and he is proud to have fixed it.

As well made as the original, time will tell if it last longer. Pretty easy to install with basic tools if you are handy. So far I am pleased with this purchase.

I own 3 bikes, and on 1 of them, I had a concern I may have a bent derailleur, because I couldn't get the bike to shift properly, despite A LOT of various adjusting with limit screws, cable length and barrel changes. So, I got this, thinking, if I didn't get it right, by the time this arrived, I'd change it out - something I dreaded. Luckily, by the time this arrived, I did one last adjustment attempt, and seem to have found the solution. - My cable was too loose. - When I replaced my cable, I failed to first turn the barrel adjuster all the way in, and tried to fix that mistake by pulling the cable further through the derailleur. Problem is, although you can get it to work on most cogs, by the time the derailleur gets to the highest gear, the cable is too loose and can't be tightened. I hope I've explained that right. Back to this product: I can't use it right away, on the bike I had planned to, because, even if it was needed, not knowing a lot about rear derailleurs, when I ordered it, going by the product title, "Direct Mount/Hanger Mount", I erroneously thought it was compatible with BOTH mount types. But once it came, and compared it with those on my 3 bikes, I noticed it's different than the bike I had it intended for. (That's OK, as I'll save it for use on the bikes it IS compatible with.) Reading the ad's text, and comparing it with those I have, it is surely NOT for bikes with derailleurs attached to HANGERS, (which higher quality bikes use.) The advantage of a derailleur attached to a hanger, is that if you crash and impact the derailleur, the replaceable hanger may take the damage, saving the more expensive and troublesome to replace derailleur. Anyway, this derailleur, despite its typical use on lower priced bikes, seems to be a quality part. The springs are very strong, the cable adjustment barrel is metal, not plastic, the 2 derailleur's main parts are attached tightly, and it came with a bracket bolt. If you need help installing or adjusting, a search for the part by model #, and selecting "Dealer's Manual", not "User Manual", appears to be the right choice.
