Sturdy, Easy to assemble, great price
Bought this for my mother when she comes to visit. She has parkinsons syndrome and is pretty much in the wheelchair most of the day. My bathroom door is not wide enough for a wheelchair so we put this chair in the laundry room in which the door is wide enough to fit the wheelchair and roomy enough to fit a wheelchair, the commode and another person or 2 to help her. I received the chair undamaged. It was easy to put together and very sturdy. I bought pail liners with an absorbent pad to put in the pail. My mom and dad, 82 and 86 live in assisted living and had a "pal" (cna) from the facility come to my house with them to assist her when we had a birthday party for my daughter. She says it worked out great. My mom could enjoy the party without worrying how she was going to use the toilet (this was a big source of anxiety for her and keeps her from going out) and my parents were able to get away from the facility for a while. She used it twice that night. Well worth the purchase. I hope I can get many, many more uses out of it. It would be helpful if it could fold up when not in use but I will take sturdy over convenience any day.

Terrific product with a couple of things to be aware of
I bought one of these for my wife, who's coming home in a couple of days on a wheelchair after using a different drop-arm commode in the rehab center. It seems very heavy and solid, and is certainly wide--real pluses for transfers to and from a wheelchair with a board. My initial familiarization testing suggests that the drop-arm function might well be much easier for a caregiver to use than for the occupant as someone with weak arms or wrists sitting on this might find it hard to reach down to the inside top of a front leg and pull hard on the knob that holds the plunger, and then reverse that procedure to push the plunger in hard enough to ensure it holds. Speaking of drop-arms, see those little arms that stick outward at the middle of the bottom rail? They're for stopping the downward and rearward travel of the dropped arm. Fortunately, the unit came partially assembled (in a huge box) with the little catch-arms protruding outward--the complete assembly sheet that came with the commode shows the lower arms on the outsides of the legs with the catch-arms pointing uselessly inward. Expensive but worth it given its important role during rehab.

Good Price Good Product
This Bedside Commode is very sturdy and comfortable for sitting when you have to go. It arrived in good condition except for the fact that one of the back legs holes were the back rest goes in was bent and not quite round. It took lots of pounding to round it back out. There was a small about of rust on the back legs close to the top also. I believe this was from this sitting in a warehouse for a while, BUT for the price, I did not mind the challange. Finding this under $200 was a great buy!! Local Medical Supply stores could not order it from Drive for less than $450. Drive is a good quality product! This was bought as a replacement for an earlier model that had worn out after 7 years or more. I highly recommend this product!

This is definitely a 5 star item
Well, I must say that this is one item that I can find no fault with. I weigh 300lbs. and I feel very secure sitting on this commode. It is quite heavy andthe drop arms work well but I find that so far I have not needed them like I thought I would. The back rest is comfortable and the arms are paddedand allows you to get a good grip on them especially if you have arthritis in your hands. The bench seat is hard but fairly comfortable as long asyou don't spend too long sitting there. The only real issue so far is the smell. You almost have to change the liner everytime you go and that can getvery $$$. We are still experimenting with the problem. Will give an update once we work it all out.

Rusting after 30 days of use
We've had the chair 30 days today and have used it daily. We were pleased with the sturdiness and design. However, today I noticed the legs have started to develop rust where they are welded and there is also rust on the metal rivets used to adjust the leg height. I know rust makes metal weaker so I wonder what effect it will have over time on the weight limit. I have two more days to return this but I see many people have said it is not returnable. Has anyone successfully returned one of these chairs?

Love thus one. Gone thru 5 to finally find one worth tge money. Great price too.
My mother-in-law is 210 & she is excited to get it. Good quality. Grip bar handles that can be lowered. Very sturdy. Comes in 2 pcs. Back bar snaps in place and ready to use. Love it that if u are to much forward the urine goes into the pot. It has a cut out so it flows back to the pot. Worth every penny. Other commodes don't have that wide base. A woman my mother-in-laws size would get her bum pinched between the side area where the base was shorter and the open area of the pot. This one makes it easier to slide. Lil bit of baby oil does the trick. Her last one would tilt as she got on. Not this one. Great for any age, size or gender. Love the back rest. Has a nice lid so the smell us not escaping while traveling to deposit things in reg commode. Plus it has a pail handle. Love that idea. Thanks for making a wonder item.

The product itself appeared to be fine. one of the bolts for one of the release arms had to be tightened, and one of the screws that held in the bucket in place underneath had to be tightened, but the reason I gave it three stars was because their was crap dripping down the back legs of the commode which had to be cleaned off. It was brown, so I assume that is what it was; it appeared to be their for awhile, but with steel wool it came off pretty much.
