Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector, 10-Year Battery Backup, Interconnectable, LED Warning Light Indicators, 20SA10

Excellent brand smoke detector. Used it to replace one in a bedroom that had reached its ten year operating period and was not responding to the reset function. This was a hard wired detector but the installation was simple given the instructions and tools provided. It too should give us ten years of safety and service.

Straightforward to install, giving it 5 on the assumption it will last the 10 years claimed.Would have been n ice if the 120 connection would have been universal so I wouldn't have even had to shut off power and connect wires, but that may be unreasonable to expect all the brands to agree on that.

Easy install, replaced 3 in about 45 minutes. Would have been faster if the wire connections matched up with the older version. I replaced the Kidde detectors that were in my house. They were not beyond the 10 year mark yet but we kept getting a false alarm when using our air fryer and iron skillets. We have not had a single false alarm since so very satisfied with this purchase (and so are the dogs).

All our smoke detectors are hardwired, something we didn't know when we bought our house. When we decided to replace all alarms, that's how we discovered that they're hard-wired.We decided to buy these detectors which came six in a package. We like that they have different color lights to indicate when they're working fine and when they're not. Even though they are hard-wired, they have batteries for back-up.One night, one detector started beeping. And to our surprise, all the others started beeping too. That's when we found out that they were designed to work together as a series. So when one detector goes off, so will the others. That ensures that no matter what part of the house people are, ALL the alarms will go off if one is triggered.In our case, we didn't have smoke/fire, but rather, one of the detectors went bad (it's less than 2 years old!). When it started beeping, the rest of the detectors followed suit. The beeping was so loud and shrill that we were afraid they would wake up the entire neighborhood. So that's a sure indication that the alarms are so loud they can't be ignored.By process of elimination, we identified which detector was bad (the light was red, while the others were green). Because these detectors are interrelated, we had to get the same detector as a replacement.We do like these detectos because they have visual indicator lights and they're priced well. Why four stars? Well, we bought all of them at the same time, so we're not too thrilled that one would go bad after less than two years.

I haven’t tested these for very long but i am impressed so far. I replaced 5 of my smoke and smoke /co detectors because i was having issues with nuisance chirping even with fresh batteries with my 6-year-old firex devices. I decided to quit fooling around with them and replace them all with these.The install was straight forward. Rewired them with new harness (because plug was different) and got them all installed. Put the power on, and they all started beeping. Hmmm, I walked around and looked at each, pwer light was off all of the except for one. ie. Only one had the green light on. I powered down and inspected the wires and caps. The one with the light on had the white wire pulled out of the screw cap. Re-installed it and powered up, it all works perfectly.I like the fact that it alerted me that wiring was faulty. I was surprised to see the wire out but when I pushed the cap back into the electrical box it was awkward, and it popped out somehow. Anyway, all good and tight now.My favorite feature of this is the 10 year built in battery. I go away a lot, my ac power goes out often. So not having to replace the batteries is a big plus for me.These are good units, well designed and simple to install and smart enough to know when something isn’t right.5 stars

I installed 4 of these on April 29th and over the last month, they have gone off in the middle of the night at least 7 times for no reason. Last night they went off again and I was unable to silence and reset them. I had to take them down and disable them! I have had Kidde detectors in the past that worked well, which is why I bought these. I am not happy with this group. I will contact the manufacturer about the issue on Monday. I will update this review once I see if they stand behind their product. We shall see.7/10/25 Update I called customer service, they told me that they can replace them. I told them I already purchased a diferent brand and I do not want these, I want my money back. They said I would have to return them (at my expense) and write a letter as to why I'm returning them and request my money back, but they said they usually don't do refunds. I will update again after I ship these garbage detectors back to them. I wish I had read all of the one star ratings before I bought them because most of them say the same things. multiple false alarms in the middle of the night without any reason and the only way to shut them up is to permanently disable them. NOT HAPPY!

I have used kidde smoke detectors previously. Their 10 year lifespan ran out and I needed to replace the entire house as they all started chirping end of life. This is a built-in feature so that they are replaced and never fail. I like the 10 year battery that is built into the unit. It means that during its lifespan I’ll never need to climb a ladder again to replace a battery.

I replaced my old Kidde smoke alarm because it was ten years old, and although still working, Kidde recommends to replace after ten years. This one is wired and has a ten year lithium battery life. It is top rated by CR. Although it didn’t look difficult to connect, if you are already wired, I had a handyman install it. When we tested it, it was loud! It is slightly smaller than my old Kidde alarm from ten years ago, but still covered the hole. Great value as I am safe!
