man I love this series.
Stumbled on this series after randomly reading dungeon diving thinking I would in no way like this one more. But now I have no idea. These books are so good and witty and full action, romance, indent magic using, and fun characters!! Can’t wait for the next book!!

Decent, But Time For Ard To Move Into The Big Leagues
When last we saw "Four Sphere" mage Ard, he, his harem, and otherparty members were hanging out in the coastal North, ostensiblyhunting corrupted mages and pirate nests (and in fact actually doingthat) but mostly staying out of the Capital and the schemes of theRoyals, most notably the First Princess. That is now getting more difficult, especially with Ard having lostthe tenuous support of the Second Prince, and the ongoing war goingbadly and heating up. Ard is continuing to grow into his magic, and is learning a bit more about his heritage, and the Big Picture(Greek gods are involved, though how Ard's world relates to Earthis unclear). In the meantime, he has built a mountain fortress(which has a boys' clubhouse feel which makes his harem roll theireyes), manifested a spirit horse which apparently very much likehis father's abilities, and is learning things about himself, especially in relation to the sociopathic harem member foisted onhim by the First Princess which he's not sure he wants to know.In the end, I would have liked a bit more forward progress here.To some extent this book felt like wheels spinning before actuallycoming to grip with the main issues of the setting. Still it wasentertaining enough, and I will pick up the next one.

Looking forward to a sequel
I’m really looking forward to seeing how this continues, politics with the royal family and the war look very promising. One minor complaint is that the term “True mage” is used for two different things, a 4 sphere mage with soul magic AND a regular mage that has passed all the notmal trials and developed. A bit confusing, other than that it’s good.

Excellent series
Probably some spoilers in this review and it covers all of the first three books. This has become one of my favorites series from this author. And he is one of the best in the genre. As an Aside, I highly recommend Dragon’s Justice and Saving Supervillians. The MC is a barely 18 year old who by this this has only been practicing magic for a few months. He is flawed and immature, which makes him much more relatable and interesting. One of the more interesting aspects of this series is that mages are powerful, but they are glass cannons, and must be protected by powerful “anchors” so they can fight at range. The other characters are varied and have their own personalities, not at all cardboard cutouts. Also their interactions are quite funny. Action throughout and characters behave rationally in response to the challenges presented. The only real negative in the series thus far is that the challenges the MC and his team face seem insurmountable, so I look forward to what happens next!

terrific third novel
The Good: Ard has made major steps in increasing mastery over his magicThe Bad: carmiila and the royals are still scheming and their machinations cost people livesThe ugly: Book 4 isn’t out yet!The series has been great so far and I hope book 4 is out soon!

No frail damsels here
Alternate universe, magic, base building, skill building, harem adult situationsArden and his warrior women continue to tackle pirates, monsters, assassins, and restore Freddie. A lot happening. Well edited. Now the wait until the next book in the series is written. Absorbing, and unique magic system. Enjoyed.

More Ard snark to make your day
These are fun books to read with a lot of back and forth between Ard and his anchors. Ard is slowly powering up and it looks live events are pushing him hard to improve or die. Fun characters, quirky dialogue and some magical action sequences to spice things up, what more could you want (except more!)

Strong Third Entry
This was an excellent addition that did well with a lot of character development. Ards mother is an excellent character. And mirabelle is the perfect crazy woman. I’m glad she got her own arc of crazy and violence. Can’t wait for the next in this series
