Gets The Job Done
My order arrived on time and it new condition. Each hinge includes a backplate. The combination of top and back plates are such that the hinge is laterally adjustable, which makes it easy to deal with a gate whose fence post may have shifted from its original perfectly aligned position. This is applicable especially for those cases where a fence post is not properly cemented in place. The tension adjustment is easily accessible. Simply unscrew the cap located at the top of the middle portion of the hinge, insert a large blade screwdriver (you will not succeed with a standard-sized blade screwdriver), push down the tension-release component with the screwdriver, and then turn right or left to tighten or loosen, respectively, the tension coil within the hinge. Two recommendations, based upon the previous hinges of the same type that I replaced: (1) Do not push down hard on the screwdriver. If you do so, then you may end up popping the tension coil out the bottom of the hinge. It can be reinserted, but this requires patience and a good-natured personality; (2) When tightening or loosing the tension-release component, try making your adjustment in quarter-turn increments. Trust me, a quarter-turn more often than not is all that is needed to set the proper tension to close your gate. All in all, this is an excellent product, but the price point, in my opinion, is high. Yes, it is competitive in price with other brands and similar hinge types, but this is not solid metal. I have to believe it is reasonably inexpensive to manufacture this product, so you price is all in the markup. It's one of those items you need, and "they" know you need it, if you get my drift. However, the price is worth the return on investment. My previous set of hinges of this same type lasted around ten years. Unfortunately, after I had adjusted the tension coils, the wear and tear was such that the gate did not latch closed properly. One day a particular nasty windstorm ripped my gate off its hinges. I replaced the gate. When I noticed over time that the same latching problem started to occur, I took proactive measures and purchased this replacement hinge set. So, figure that at current prices, it will cost you about $7 to $8 per year for the hinge set. To answer what likely is the next question on your mind, yes, I recommend this product without any reservation.

Great operating hinges for my fiberglass gates
use these for my new porch fiberglass rails gates 10 years ago and they’re still working fine. We will definitely re-order this product if these ever go bad.

great value for the $$
My local fence company gave me an estimate of $450 to replace a single hinge, and provide some reinforcement to a gate. I was able to do the job for less than $100 total. These hinges are legit. Feel very sturdy. Easy to install with a little time and elbow grease.

Amazing adjustments post install
This replaced another brand hing who self-closed spring had failed. The install took me about an hour by myself, but part of this was me trying to get the alignment perfect off the bat. Where these brackets shinned, was after the fact and the ability to so easily adjust the tilt and height. I would highly recommend.

looses closing power when wet
This hinge is well made, easy to install and easy to adjust torsion and position on the gate. It does an excellent job on my wooden fence gate and overall I am very satisfied with the product. I noticed when it rains and the hinge get wet, the closing torsion seems to decrease. This seems a little odd but it is not a major issue. Hinge is a little expensive but you get what you pay for. I would buy again and do recommend the product.

Could be good, but they're not...
I get what the manufacturer is trying to do with these hinges, it's just that they failed, in my opinion. First, a gate doesn't really droop or sag because of the hinges. Sag is due to the construction of the gate. That being said, good, heavy-duty hinges are an integral part of a well constructed gate. The main problem with every D&D hinge I tried (total of 5 sets) is the slop in the hinge itself. Constructing a gate and engineering the slop into the final product is almost an exercize in futility, and it shouldn't be necessary. Hinges should have ZERO slop. Most especially, heavy-duty hinges.

These were used to replace another set and were easier RTO install than the ones I had before. The door hunged to them is a 40 inch 6 ft composite, and this hold it up perfectly.. easy adjustments both verticale and horizontal make it easy to keep door straight!
