Exactly what you need for certain circumstances
I'm not an audio engineer so I'm not totally sure all the circumstances where this part would come in handy. I picked this up to make a video showing that with 32bit recorders on the market now, you no longer have to have a cloud lifter or inline amplifier for dynamic mics. That video isn't out yet however the setup was this splitter plugged into an SM7B, one output to a cloud lifter and into a channel 1 on a zoom h6e recorder, and the other output directly to the h6e. Both channels were independently transferred into audacity for edit. The channel with the cloud lifter needed no amplification as expected. The channel that was directly from the mic only needed normalization and the noise floor did not play a factor in the sound quality thus proving that if you use 32 bit recording, an inline amplifier isn't needed. I understand that this will not work for live recording but, I never do live recording so its not a factor for me. I have yet to run across another scenario where I will need this splitter but... I have it in my audio kit if I do. I dropped one star off in the quality of material for 1 reason. The first one of these I received, the male fitting was bent around the rim and immediately sent this back. The replacement was in proper working order.

Well made, simple signal splitter.
The end with two cables could benefit from a little more internal support for the strain relief, but other than that it is really nicely done. The XLR connectors appear to be good quality, and can be inserted and removed smoothly. The soldering skill also looks very good. The soldered terminals are tidy and shiny. A wiggle test in a continuity checker shows no intermittent open or short circuits. There are a lot of places where a simple splitter like this will work fine, for example feeding a mono signal to both sides of a stereo recorder that doesn't internally "normal" both sides together when only one is plugged in. Depending on your exact setup you might want to lift the shield connection at one of the connectors if you're having noise issues, but that shouldn't be a problem for just splitting between two inputs on the same device.

Great addition to my kit
I don’t like to make a habit of splitting signals but this is one of those cables that comes I. Clutch when tracking to various venues and not knowing what their audio situation is like. Sometimes they only have a single audio output. If I’m live streaming I like to have audio run directly to my video switcher as well as my zoom recorder as a backup audio track should something happen with my livestream program recording. In those cases this cable is invaluable and has worked perfectly so far. I’ve made these cables in the past and I can’t justify my time and materials for how affordable this cable is so premade is the way I go.

Unshielded Cable!
I picked up a lot of noise with this splitter. When I opened the connectors, I saw that the cables are unshielded. Not good! I'm returning it for a different one that is shielded.

A splitter from the sound source to two powered speakers, worked like a charm
I will often times daisy chain speakers together and that is totally phone. But what if your powered speaker did not have that option? This splitter allows you to send your sound signal to two different powered speakers. The XLR ends fit right on without any issues. The sound quality was what it should be. The wires are thin and I am not sure if that affects anything. It worked perfect for me.

No buzz or humming
It's always good when components work but it's even better when they work WELL. So many times I've gone and had to buy a random adapter or something and I always settle for the cheap model and inevitably it hums when I plug it in, but not these. There's literally no degradation in the sound quality. Highly reccomended brand.
