B is for Battle Cry: A Civil War Alphabet Hardcover – April 1, 2009

I was hoping so much that my grandchildren (ages 7&5) would enjoy this, and the DO! What I really like about the book is that the middle of the page has great pictures, and then a short description of the picture, which is nice for the younger children. Then on the sides of the page there is a more in depth description of the page, which appeals more to the older children. Really well done!

Excellent for homeschooling multiple ages, the short poem on each page can be ready through together (ages 6+), and then older children can read the details on each page themselves. A quick and simple overview of the Civil War.

I really enjoy the side bar reading, and I like that this book will have value for my children when they get older and wish to know more about the Confederacy, Abraham Lincoln, etc. Great illustrations and short poetic paragraphs make it great for their current toddler-ish ages.

This is just what I was looking for to give my 8 year old nephew who is very interested in this period of "soldiers." Nicely balanced between North and South. Great pictures, simple descriptions and explanations for a child of that age, with more in-depth treaty for when he is older.

Just the right book for my grandsons, from age 8 to 13.
