Great piece of kit
After installing dvd/cd burner and media player software on my Windows 11 desktop, the drive installed with no problems. I have successfully transfered files from dvd, cd, memory stick and sim cards, played music cds and dvd videos. Finally I have backed up files to dvd. Robust and versatile, great value for money, I recommend to all.

Very nice and easy to use
External USB port on mini-pc so I use it with external power supply plugged in. Plug and play with Linux (Manjaro) no problems. I have external USB hard drive running from it - again no problems - PnP. Description implies the LED on top can be switched off but I cannot find out how!! Can be a bit annoying but I cover it with the external hard drive! Very quiet in use - both playing and burning

Great piece of kit for ripping to FLAC on a budget.
Excellent. I've recently decided to dig all my 90s & 00s CD's out and RIP them to FLAC files to put on Plex. Done 100s of CD's with it. You do get the odd CD that it won't read, but on doing checks that appears to be copyright protection that was added to some CD's in the 90s. You have to be creative to get those files in FLAC :)

Only worked 3 times before it failed
I only managed to download 3 cd's before it stopped working. The top of the drive is very flexible, it bends as you hold it. I couldn't return it , my beloved dogs enjoyed ripping the box to bits. I have purchased another cd drive from a local retailer. Its working perfectly

Functional and affordable.
Faultless and handy. This has proven a great tool for the price. I like the integrated cables but these might be a concern for longevity as they can’t be replaced. Otherwise, functionality has been faultless. Spins up fast and can sound like a loud fan at full rpm but it has ripped my discs fine and without fault.

Works with MacBook Pro
This cd/dvd drive is a compact and functional little piece of kit. I am a MacBook Pro user and I needed something that would allow me to burn files to a disk for work. There was no need to install any drivers or other software as the MacBook connected to it immediately so it’s effectively ready to use straight away. The instructions enclosed with the hardware are clear and concise. The USB-C and USB connectors are on a short cable that is incorporated into the hardware and there is no option to use an external cable. This suited my needs but may not be useful to others. It’s compact design is also a plus as it allows me to slip it into my laptop bag with no issues. For the price, this cd/dvd drive is great value for money.

Not plug + play. Pretty poor set up overall but plays ok + is cheap .....
USB C not recognised by my laptop so had to try adaptor - worked by changing USB C plug to USB A + then back via adaptor to USB C!! Laptop hasn't got USB A socket (hence why I bought this🤔☹️) - worked via USB A to C adaptor🤔🤯 This is NOT plug + play as it requires a driver or DVD player/record software. Still, I picked it up for under £12 so am not going to stress - it will be handy for travel and it is slim so will fit easily in laptop bag. It is quite quiet. Had I paid full price this would be a 2* review and a return, but for the price + convenience I'll give it an extra star🤪🤪 Don't buy it if you are unfamiliar with dvd drivers and software etc.

Doesn't work. Turns on for a few seconds and then just turns off. I tried burning CDs but ended up wasting 2 CDs (would say it started burning but then just stops and the CD becomes unusable even though nothing on it). I also tried to use it to play DVDs but again doesn't work. Don't waste your money.
