POPSMITH The Popper in Butter

Unfortunately there are problems customers should be aware of. I'm disappointed in this product, because for the price you would think it wouldn't have problems. 1) When starting, sometimes the kernels get stuck in the mixing rods. You either have to turn the handle the other way, or shake the pot. 2) When turning the handle, the lid doesn't stay on. You almost have to hold it down while turning. 3) Once the popping starts, oil starts to leak out between the pot and lid. (I had a mess to clean up after my first try.) Look at some of the videos and you'll see what I'm talking about. 4) When you go to dump the popcorn into a bowl, most of the popcorn gets stuck in the turning device. You either have to take the stirring device out (which scatters popcorn all over); use your hands (which on hot popcorn can burn); or turn it completely upside down and shake it (because of the weight of the pot, you can't do it with one hand). 5) I really wanted to like this, one feature that appealed to me, was that it is machine washable. But it's so large, it takes up too much space. It's easier just to wash it in the sink.

So I love the construction, no sharp edges to cut me like the whirly pop, I love how it works (much better than the whirly pop, IMHO). But as others have commented, the enamel is flawed. Mine is not really bad as some have been, but there are a couple places where the enamel is chipped. That's why I gave it four stars. On how it works, the stirrer works very smoothly; I really like how the crank is on the top rather than in the handle. The weight is very manageable without being flimsy. And it cleans up very easily, all parts come apart. The popcorn pops flawlessly in it; and it definitely works on induction. One warning: make sure the paddle is positioned so it won't come out when you pour the popcorn out of the popper. I did that once. It's wasn't a catastrophe, but it was a learning experience. I'm very, very happy with it. And I use clarified butter when I pop my popcorn. None of that fake stuff.

This is my second one, I had a mishap with the first that was completly my fault. The pot is made well, easy to clear, I don't know that it is worth what they sell it for normally. I found it for about $100 less on Amazon, just depends which color you choose. What I think (I don't know) it might make better popcorn if there were another vent spot on the other side. It makes the popcorn perfectly but something about the popped corn seems off. I have tried theirs and to others. I thought the less expensive poppers did a better job but they are a pain to clean. Still working on perfecting the process, would like to hear feedback from others.

It is a very nice looking popcorn maker, but unfortunately it leaves an oily mess on the stove after you make popcorn! I would’ve taken a picture but it was such a mess my mother had cleaned it already.
