Lovely little laptop for the price
I got this Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go at a huge discount so was prepared to give it a try. However I was very unsure as to whether it would live up to my requirements as I had read very mixed reviews of the build quality and performance. I have been resistant to switching from my traditional Windows based laptop to a purely online Google Chrome based machine because of familiarity. However the poor battery life of my £500 laptop which started after just a year of use prompted me to seek out something much cheaper that I could upgrade after a year if needed. I am so glad that I gave the Chromebook setup a try. When I opened the box I found the machine to be very good - a nice silver colour with what seems to me to be a perfectly fine build quality for this level of machine. I use a laptop for word processing, internet searches, email, watching videos and webinars and video conferencing. As such this machine does all of those things very well - some via apps on the Google Play store and some via web browser. The keyboard is really nice to type on and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the screen and webcam which was much better than I had been led to believe. Set-up was really easy as I already have a Google account so it all linked up seamlessly. The best feature is that it turns on almost instantly where my old laptop takes a frustratingly long time to load despite only being 3 years old. The Chromebook is so light that I can easily take it on vacation, should I wish to do so, and can take it up and down two flights of stairs in one hand without struggling to carry notes and computer at the same time. It is perfect for all day video conferencing and webinars as the battery life is fantastic. I have tested it with my favourite online VoIP service to call my family and it worked very well. As a bonus it connected the video and audio to my Logitech webcam (which is a few years old) the moment I plugged it into the usb port so I am very happy. I've only been using it for a few hours but so far I can recommend it.
