The holder itself is of good quality. But...Clamped onto the rear-view mirror is probably the most secure option, but this also blocks a good part of the mirror so not an option I'd use.Whether this will actually work for you depends highly on the angle of the dash "hood" it clamps onto.In my truck, when at standstill it seems secure enough, but because of the angling of the hood (not a sharp angle with a constant-thickness hood) it very quickly slides off and the whole GPS assembly falls on the floor almost as soon as vibrations from driving starts.In the end, I could not find a good way to attach this in my truck and went back to the weighted stand I was using before.Not recommended, unless you are sure up front that you either don't mind getting your rearview mirror obscured or have a dash hood with a fixed (not angled) thickness.

Broke my mirror on first use. Brand new car and going to cost a bunch to repair. Think about how your mirror is attached before trying. Some just use a plastic clip to hold mirror on car.

I mounted this on my dashboard and it was MUCH easier to view the GPS than cup holder type devices . Although the spring is very strong, the unit would eventually fall off the dashboard on rough or "washboard" like roads. I was able to mitigate this problem with duct tape and wooden shims.Product materials, design and manufacturing quality is fine.Bottom line: Met my need after installation modifications and I would definitely buy it again.
