Best Elementary Grade Math Books
This is the best series of math books for grade 1-6 I could find. I have tried books from other publishers which are usually much too easy but this series is more on the difficult side. The questions here challenge the kids to think and process the concepts. This review is for grade 4 math but I have used books from this publisher for other grades. There are some minor drawbacks which I do not think take away from the overall quality of these books. First, these books are definitely on the difficult side which means that more supervision and time is needed to help the student. Second, I wish there were slightly more questions in the practice books. It would be great if each lesson in the practice book started with a larger number of easier questions to nail down the basic concept. Finally, I want to say something to those who advocate for computer learning (on ipad/pc) versus learning from physical books such as these. It has been shown that computer learning is less efficient and less effective. Since tests are often taken on computer these days, some experience of navigating on a computer is obviously needed. However, I appreciate that these books are self-contained hard copies. That is, I am not required to go online to complete any of the lessons (although there are some optional online resources).

Best Math Curriculum
I was looking for a challenging math set to use for my classroom. After a bit of research, my aspiring math students dived into the world of AOPS Beast Academy. The curriculum is both rigorous and complete as well as engaging and entertaining. The four parts (A-D) makes an entire math curriculum. For each part, there is a Guide and a Practice book with answers in the back of the Practice book. Guides provide instruction delivered by the Academy instructors in a comic book style that encourages reasoning and problem solving. Practice books provide hundreds of problems, puzzles, and games to reinforce the lessons. I choose to teach math knowledge from founders who attend Ivy league colleges.

pricey but worth it
we first heard about the Beast Academy series from a STEM teacher at my son’s school. she thought this would be a good way to challenge him since he is advanced math skills for his grade. the books are divided into Guide books and Practice books. the Guide books are presented in graphic novel form and explain the concepts to be learned while the Practice books contain the questions, though each section is preceded by a short explanation of how to approach the questions. for a while, i only purchased the Practice books but i feel the Guide books are useful in helping to flesh out certain ideas.i am not familiar with other math workbooks so cannot compare this to other series but we are happy with it so far (even if my son is unhappy about having to do math during the summer!).

Fun, high quality books
Books received quickly from seller. We had a teacher here who taught math Olympiad who recommended the books for kids who aren't getting enough from school and wanted to make learning fun. I still like for my kids to learn with paper and pencil because it's just easier for them to organize their thoughts that way, and easier for me to check their work. I flipped through the books and it seems that the learning part should be made easier by the comic-fashion guides. If the kids like this then I will order the 5 series when that comes out. They are pricey, but I'm willing to pay that price if it helps my kids learn willingly and solidly.

old has a lot of fun solving those problems
My 8 yr. old has a lot of fun solving those problems. He made sure I write a 5-star review here on Amazon. Indeed, the sequence of the problems in this book is very well-thought and focused on developing key math skills at a more advanced level than the one you expect from you ordinary school.

Beast Academy is the best at presenting concepts in a variety of different ways to facilitate learning and retention. topics are more advanced that standard curriculum. some questions were fairly intensive. tip: don't let your kid do the problems without showing their work.

Great book series!
My 4 th grader solves problems, it's a great series. Not simple books and good for him to think out for more ways to solve

My son is in the 2nd grade gifted program doing 3rd grade math, scoring in the 99th percentile. Students in his class are geeks and form their own “math club” and decide who can join based on what they know. So I bought this set of “comic math books” for him to do self learning. He reads the books and giggles when he reads without me pushing him. Totally worth it.
