Don't judge it by the demo.
In the same way you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, you shouldn't judge this game by the demo. The tracks in the demo really aren't too amazing and I imagine most people played it with the assists, played the demo once and thought "meh" and not bothered with it and went back to the more casual DiRT 2. That's what I did, and after picking up this game, I'm glad that I made my purchaseIt's a great Rally game. Sure the actual Rally stages in the game don't necessarily represent the countries actual rally in real life but the track selection is good, as is the car selection. The handling, while perhaps different to those used to the Colin Mcrae games, is very solid once you get the hang of it, and its nice the 2WD and 4WD cars handle quite differently. The game has a very lengthy career mode where you can create your own team complete with colors and liveries. It's not quite GRID customization but is is still quite good. The graphics are pretty superb, those saying "OMG WORSE THAN PS2 SRSLY" need to actually go back and play one, this is miles better. Not up with the great racing games of the current gen but very good none the less.My only gripes with this game are that the co-driver can some times get annoying (you can choose between a man and a woman), the damaging model is inconsistent, for example you could hit a tree at full speed and take no damage but scrape a barrier and damage a wheel, and there are no weather effects at all.Overall though, it's a very solid Rally game and anyone who enjoyed the old Colin Mcrae or WRC games should give it a try.

Disappointing use of the WRC licence
I had high hopes for this game after playing the demo and also seeing the features list. Unfortunately, the game feels remarkably old fashioned and swiftly turns from an enjoyable driving game into a complete grind. For starters, it seems almost impossible to fine tune the controls to allow for a fairly realistic yet unpunishing driving model. You have an expert mode or a beginner's mode but very little in-between and the game seems to either be ludicrously easy (if you use the beginner driving model) or absolutely ridiculously difficult (in expert mode). Even good force feedback wheel support can't really save it.Calendar mode seems to be a long and drawn out championship mode with fairly samey races over a limited selection of courses (reversed for a bit of variety). There's no sense of speed, no real sense of risk reward and the handling model feels antiquated compared to recent off road driving games like DiRT 2 or Motorstorm.Thankfully I didn't pick this up at launch, just waited for the price to drop below £15. My advice is to wait for it to drop a lot further before grabbing this.

Not as fun as WRC 3
I used to spend countless hours on WRC 3 on PS2 and still play on it now and again to this day and for years I had been longing for a follow up on the next-gen consoles, so you could imagine how happy I was when I saw this game was going to be released. However, after shelling out £30 for it on release date I was left disapointed. The graphics are barely improved from WRC3 and could be a lot better, and the physics of the game just don't feel as good, you spend more time spinning off the track than you do driving. The difficulty is absolutely insane! Unless you put it on easy (Which I don't normally like to do) it's really hard to win anything. O.k it's boring if you win all the time, but who wants to play a game where you lose all the time either? The only reason this game gets three stars instead of two is the online multiplayer. It's a lot more fun racing against other people rather than ridiculously hard computer AI opponents.

one for the real rally sim fans.stick with it and reap the rewards
hifirst off this game is only 3 gigs when installed to the hard drive so you can work out for yourself this is not a polished title, the menus are outdated (looks like an old xbox title when you start to play) but once you get into the game you can forgive the graphics and get on with taming various wrc machinery from 1600s to pwrc jwrc and the group A cars (also available via dlc for 300 ms points are the awesome group B machines feat the lancia s4 and 205t16 but no audi s1 and thats the car that started the 4wd era) this is a sim so dont think you can just flaw the throttle and get through the stage with a fast time, its its all about control of speed and brake pressure, the pacenotes are vital and once you set them up for early call out (in default they call the note when your in the bend) it works perfectly at full speed.the single player is good fun but online is where this title really shines, the menu system and lobby setup is easy to use and there is a good selection of races on offer with random, host and vote systems available everyone can find a game mode that suits them, single rally or 12 round championship in jwrc or wrc,and the competition is fierce.recommended to all the gamers who loved the mcrae burns titles for first gen consoles
