A little small but work great
These are probably best served in a pot instead of an outside planter, which is what I am using them in. I have one small planter box with a couple of tomato plants that isn't on my drip system, I had read about a way to make a watering system with unglazed clay pots so when I saw these I thought they would be a great idea (and they really are), they work just how they are supposed to, they gradually release water as the soil dries out and it is nice that the lid comes off so that you can fill them from the top rather than pulling them out to fill them but they only hold about a cup of water (which is fine for an indoor or outdoor pot but not really big enough for a planter box). Just know what you are intending to use them for.

Waters Effectively
I ordered these for my large Monsterra plant which seems to have some brown spots on it. I suspect, now, that the brown spots are actually from some kind of disease that it had even before I got it because I have been watering it with these stakes for a while now so that it's never under-watered. I have three stakes in it since it is such a large plant. With only one stake, the water was emptying very fast. Now, with three stakes, it takes a while. The plant is still plenty alive though not thriving (because of whatever disease it has) which is good because I'm never sure how much to water things.

These work and are cute, excellent for travel or just difficult plants
I have been testing these in my difficult to water silver leaf violet plant. You are not supposed to get the leaves wet which proves to be very difficult. These work fabulously in this plant and they don’t look bad either. I tested putting water in one of the carrots and just had it sitting on my counter in a glass to see if the water just rushed out and it did not. It was a slow slow trickle into the glass and probably evaporation over about 5 days. The carrots hold about 1/2 cup of water by themselves. If you are traveling you can stick a water bottle in the carrot to give the plant even more water. They even say you can use a wine bottle. If using a heavy wine bottle the carrot would probably have to be pretty submerged to hold the weight of the bottle. As you can see the carrots are a pretty good size so keep that in mind for what you are trying to water because these may be too big for a small pot.The terracotta is quite substantial as well as attractive.Well deserving of a 5 star rating.

It grew a fungus outside
I have been using the “watering-carrots” for 5 weeks and the part that is left exposed above the plant grew a nasty slimy white fungus.I put water in the carrot once a week, it provides my plant the right amount of water and my plant has grown since using this product. Unfortunately, I am afraid this fungus could spread to my plant so I am removing it altogether today.Question to the seller: Please tell me how to fix this fungus problem

Amoyls 4 pcs Terracotta Watering Spikes
Cute, fun, adds a little flair to the carrot garden. Keeps everything a bit wetter throughout the day rather than a spike of wetness that quickly dries out.
