This is an interesting sized "pie iron", but we found when camping that we were able to make two grilled cheese sandwiches in it simultaneously. It does not seal the edges like many "camp pie" molds do, but basically just allows you to grill sandwiches in it. We had a nice bed of coals and were able to closely monitor our sandwiches for perfect doneness every time. This just gives you another option for cooking over the campfire.

When the Amazon box was dropped off, I put some extra effort to pick up the box because I was expecting it to be a little bit on the heavy side, considering this is advertised as “pie maker cast iron”. To my surprise… the box was very light. I had not realized the material was just “aluminum”.They work just fine and you can grill a sandwich, but no iron at all, so make sure you check the material and not just the product description, because they don’t match.
