Review: Pleasantly surprised - I bought this lamp for my garage workbench. It works great and remains touchable with a 60W bulb turned on for about an hour at a time. The clamp seems very sturdy and the articulation is makes it a cinch to position where ever you need it. Would be five stars if it weren't for the base of the stand where the lamp arm is inserted. It kind of just sits there and swivels a bit too freely. Unless I'm missing something I think it could use some improvement, perhaps a lock feature or at least a tighter fit. Overall, very pleased and a great price to boot. Review: Works great! - This is a nice lamp and a great deal. Fast and well-packed shipping by Wayfair. The lamp is well made (90% metal), holds it position even when parallel with the desk (unusual for a swing arm lamp), and the desk clamp works well. The paint is glossy black. It has two clamps knobs, one between the upper and lower arms, and the other between the upper arm and the bulb housing. The bulb shade can be removed if you want to expose the entire bulb. The clamp has the nice feature of being able to be attached so that the clamping screw points towards the floor (e.g. clamp attached on the desktop) or parallel to the floor (e.g. clamp attached a vertical surface). The clamp opens to about 75 mm and is padded to prevent damage to the desktop. The clamp also has four holes in it to allow it to be screwed into the desk for a more permanent attachment. The lamp is loose in the clamp, the clamp hole is a little too big for the post on the lamp. The clamp seems to be cheap plastic (feels like polystyrene, like a CD case), seems like it would break if stressed often (e.g. aligning the lamp parallel to the desk surface) but feels fine for casual use. The clamp screw is metal. The lamp shade is 17 cm wide and easily accepts CFL and LED bulbs. It has a light switch on top of the bulb housing. The bulb housing is well vented. The lower and upper arms are about 38 cm long. When fully extended (arms as vertical as possible) the bulb is about 63 cm off the desktop. The lamp housing also rotates (like a clock hand), but does not hold a rotated position well. The lamp housing also tilts forwards and back, and the arm/head clamp is very good about holding this angle.

Extremely poor quality
The lamp section is built ok but the diameter of the mounting sleeve is too large to fit into the base of the plastic clamp. I'm not a small guy yet even with all my strength, it simply won't fit. Even after sanding the thick coat of black paint off of the stamped metal sleeve, still won't fit. I'll have to widen the interior diameter of the plastic base clamp with a dremel tool to make it fit, otherwise, the light is useless as it can't be attached/clamped onto anything. On the positive side, shipping was prompt as I received it right away from the seller.

Good quality EXCEPT for the base
The weak plastic base seems to be a recurring theme among reviewers. Mine arrived broken. It is hollow, and cannot hold a lamp like this. Pity that a 50 cent part is the weak point, since the rest of it appears to be pretty good quality. I'm fortunate in that the old lamp I'm replacing is nearly identical, and I could use its base with this new lamp. Caveat emptor.

Big and bright
Its big. Its bright. But plastic connector to mount to a table literally split in half. If that happens glue won't fix it cause the lamp is heavy and big.

Good Lamp
Works well. Some assembly required but not much. The vice grip attachment is really nice and attached to almost any place you can think of.

This is very functional
Looked into the market of trying to find a bed light that would shine over head as I laid down to rest and this filled the bill. I have it angled for reach and this light is adaptable. It has a lengthy positional way of making the right light at the right place.

Horrid Quality
Extremely cheap, the clamp does not fit snugly no matter how you set it up so the lamp will swing down everytime. Then, the lamp ended up breaking from the shaft after ONE adjustment... just one. DO NOT BUY..
