In v.30 Sasaki Kojiro begins his journey to Ganryujima island, and Matahachi reunites with his mother. Musashi realizes that invincibility is a mirage, and he's spent all this time trying to reach a goal that can never be attained. A wise man encourages him to use his hard-won knowledge to teach others. However Musashi still wants to pursue the way of the sword, only now it's not out of vanity, but rather as a search for spiritual enlightenment. This volume introduces a very interesting graphic representation of Musashi's ego which becomes an important part of the story in the next two volumes. Takuan makes an intriguing observation about the relationship between Musashi and Kojiro, while Otsu is haunted by the ghost of Ueda and despairs of ever being happy with Musashi. There are no duels in this volume but it serves to set up some of the events to come.

A must buy for any samurai or chanbara fan ,nice art and actions, wonderful story. :DOne of my best collections.
