Based on the inspiring true story that captured the hearts of people across the world, the rescue adventure Big Miracle tells the amazing tale of a small town news reporter (John Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Drew Barrymore) who are joined by rival world superpowers to save a family of majestic gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle. Local newsman Adam Carlson (Krasinski) can’t wait to escape the northern tip of Alaska for a bigger market. But just when the story of his career breaks, the world comes chasing it, too. With an oil tycoon, heads of state and hungry journalists descending upon the frigid outpost, the one who worries Adam the most is Rachel Kramer (Barrymore). Not only is she an outspoken environmentalist, she’s also his ex-girlfriend. With time running out, Rachel and Adam must rally an unlikely coalition of Inuit natives, oil companies and Russian and American military to set aside their differences and free the whales. As the world’s attention turns to the top of the globe, saving these endangered animals becomes a shared cause for nations entrenched against one another and leads to a momentary thaw in the Cold War.

Great Movie
Recommend to all that love animals and for the young to learn from this movie, inspiring active and a wonderful show for the kids to watch plus oldies. Very entertaining and the actors are great performing their lines to a tee. Everyone should take note as this is a true story about getting your act together, where ever you are from, it makes no difference north south east or west the job must be done to help save the planet and survive. This is the only one we have. Taken too much out and not enough put back in, on land and in water. Wake up world see this movie it's a must see not overdone and not boring so I rated this an A grade plus for pure delight of entertainment put to disk. Fabulous storyline with the elements of the weather make sure you have a coat on, now go collect your movie make haste to the chair, relax put your feet up with popcorn in one hand and remote in the other relax to a pleasant night in. Enjoy!

Amazing film
Given the fact that this is based on true events, I have not expected to be so..."real" I mean I have watched it with all of my family and we were full of emotions, even the little ones were excited and worried and all of us felt that special thing that you feel when you watch great heroes stories. Worth watching and worth researching the subject afterwards if you want to discuss it with your children and others as well.

Lovely Film
Bought this to watch with my Grand-daughter. She loves it. We have watched it several times now, and she doesn't get fed up with it, Would definitely recommend.

Great Film - Leaves you warm and fuzzy
I remember the 'true story' back int he 1980s whn a family of wales were trapped by ice. The film stays very true to the real story but with a little bit of artistic freedom to make the story work for film. Very entertaining, uplifting and something you can watch witht he whole family.

Made me want to turn the heating up.
A very nice film to watch based on a true story about three grey whales stuck in the ice with a tiny hole for them to breath with the inhabitants trying to rescue them,keeps you on tender hooks all the way through the film.

Great Stocking Filler
This film looks good, brought as stocking filler for my son, think he will enjoy it he enjoys films to do with animals especially sea life. Fingers crossed find out at Christmas.
