My mother had macular degeneration so I've been taking Macushield for a while because macular degeneration can run in families. This is first time I've taken Macushield with the + items. I've taken it in the past without the Omega 3 My mother's consultant recommended Macushield. I will continue to take it with the Omega 3 as have read that Omega 3 helps the brain too. I have had no problems taking 1 pill a day and swallowing it . One doesn't usually take the eye vitamins so it is good to be able to take a pill to possibly stave off having macular degeneration.

I have used Macushield for a long time and was also using omega 3, so it was great to find both combined. My husband starting taking them and reckons that they have helped his Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD) and the flashes have gone, which he had had for months. Top tip: when using the blister pack don't push the capsules through or they might burst. Use your fingernail to peel the foil back first then you can get the capsule out without it bursting. They are easy to swallow and apart from a mild odour there aren't really amy other noticeable side effects.

I'm a big fan of the original Macushield and the amazing value of buying through Amazon. I thought I would try this new variation containing Omega 3. Despite never having had an issue when removing capsule from foil before, I had an unfortunate mishap when removing the Omega 3 version today. I thought it might be worth mentioning as a gentle warning to other users, to avoid the possible occurrence, happening to somebody else. Especially when, the vast majority of users, are like myself with central vision issues. I 'pushed' the capsule as normal from non foil side, and the capsule 'split' squirting the 'bright orange oily contents' out in a projectile fashion! ..... now I know I am a regular swimmer.. so it might have much stronger arm pressure than normal...but I have been using Macushield for years, and never has this happened before. I believe the 'Omega 3 oil component is Algal oil a plant derivative not fish oil, but boy it does smell awful, when it lands on every item possible, including my cat!... he gave me a stare of disbelief that only cats can give! It might be the extra oil content, but it got everywhere. The big advantage was it was bright orange, but still not ideal if your sight is not the best. So I will now take extra care when removing from foil, from foil side. This is in no way a criticism of the product itself which is excellent. Just hope this avoids this happening to somebody else. My cat would like to second this opinion. I'm giving 1 star so hopefully more people read this warning!

I have been taking MacuShield Original for a number of years and would definitely recommend the brand. However, this time when I ordered I decided to buy the MacuShield + Omega 3-30 day pack (vegetarian). Up until now I have never had any problems removing the capsule from its foil packaging. But, removal was difficult with these. The capsule split and what a bright orange mess it made! Not easy to remove the spillage from both hands or anywhere else! Maybe, it was me? However, I have never had this happen with any other capsules of any sort before. Just a warning for purchasers of this particular MacuShield capsule. I will definitely be continuing with MacuShield supplements as they are excellent product.
