A decent saw if you have Makita style batteries
This is a nice little saw that came in after a discount coupon, including california tax with free prime transport, for $50.00I have a good stock of Makita type batteries, so I wanted something in the way of a small saw, a genuine Makita mini saw being more than present budget would allow.I was worried about how the balance would be, but with a 6Ahr unit it feels fime in the hand. I am a lefty, so the left side placement of the trigger lock requires a bit of a technique to activate, but that is the case on most tools unless they come with ambidexterous controlsI thought the included blade looked a bit aggressive, but surprisingly it cut pine type 1X4 smoothly and cleanly with just a bit of splinterind on the narrow side of the board from the blade coming through.I was interested in this saw because of the higher RPM as well, as most clones of the Makit mini show a 4000 RPM rating, far less than this saw.The motor seems to be plenty powerful and feels robust. The main negative issue has been mentioned by others, namely the battery not locking in place. My saw had this deficiency, which required about 20 minutes with a file to enlarge the slot where the battery catch hooks in by filing away material towards the tail end of the saw, and filing back the small angled portions on the sides that also seemed to be preventing the battery from seating fully forward. Now with a nice click, the batteries snap in and present no further problem.I did not try cutting down any giant redwoods, as my main use of this saw is for cutting pre-primed pine for use as window interior surround, and other light duty tasks around the house.I will look for some assorted blades to handle thinner material and the like to increase the versatility of the saw.Even with having to finish the tool manufacturing process by massaging the battery bay, this is still a great deal.

Ok not great
It's just ok. The first thing I noticed is that my genuine Makita batteries don't fit right. I tried 3 different ones and none of them click in like they do with genuine tools. The battery can slide out of the tool without pressing the grey tab. Also the power level LEDs don't really make sense. There are two rows of lights and only one row lights up and it doesn't match the power level displayed on the battery. I bought it to just use around the house occasionally. I've made a few small cuts to plywood so far and it worked, although once it stopped mid cut when the blade encountered a knot.

Power full and cuts well.
This little saw will cut through a 2x4 with no problem at all. Just one thing the blade in the picture is installed backwards.

Little Ripper - Much Better Than I Expected!
The media could not be loaded. I'm a serial tool collector and strong believer in buying the highest quality tools I can reasonably afford and the job at hand requires. But sometimes when I'm "on the fence" about whether a tool or gadget will actually be useful to me, I'll go downmarket to try it out, then buy a "good one" once I'm sure I'll use it. Went this route with both slider miter saws and multitools when they first came out.In rare circumstances, I manage to get a budget tool that performs WAY better than expected and winds up being THE keeper. This little ZUYIYI 5-1/2" brushless saw seems to be one of those. I have very little critical to say about it:The Good:- Seems to have great power for it's size. Chewed through about 10' of 13/16 hard maple test boards without any trouble. Used about a half of an OLD OEM 5AH to do that.-Both my OEM and aftermarket Makita batteries fit the tool. A couple older ones are a little tight, but none flat wouldn't go in.- Weight is not too heavy and balance is OK with a 5AH battery. I'm confident that I'll have no trouble getting all the way through 8' cuts on the plywood sheets without too much fatigue. Both the plastic and metal (yes, I said "metal") parts of the housing are beefy and are very well done. No cheesy "central pneumatic" feel here.- The sole plate is pressed steel, but seems to be sufficiently sturdy to hold square. Did not detect any off-square cuts on the test boards. There is sufficient motor clearance to work with a clamp-on edge guide. With the blade set at 1" depth, there's a little over an inch of clearance between motor and the stock. YMMV when cutting dimension lumber, of course.- Blade safety brake works like it should with a brushless motor (that "cogging" effect)The Bad:- The lower part of the blade guard is made from a really soft plastic. It moves out of the way like it should but might have been better if it was made out of a tougher fiber-reinforced plastic.- The distance between the front edge of the sole plate and the blade is VERY short. It's VERY easy to let the blade touch the workpiece when first resting the saw on the edge. The saw still starts, even on hard maple, but there is a bit of, well, "surprise" when starting up.That's it. I think this one's a keeper - we'll see how it holds up after I use it to rip about 200' of 18mm Birch cabinet ply.For sure at the current ~$60 price point it's a steal!
