Coast G10 Inspection Pocket Light, Silver

The flashlight shown in the photos is different from the one i recieved. Same specs similar product but not the same.

After having recently found Coast flashlights and being very impressed, I tried this one because of the AAA format with a longer runtime. I already had a G19, which is nearly the same size (a little longer) but brighter (more lumens, also means shorter battery life).Unfortunately, the one I got does NOT have momentary on operation (soft press without clicking switch to get light). Ironically, it does have momentary OFF operation, lol. Also, mine has no optics or silvered reflector at all. The LED simply sits in a cavity in the aluminum housing that was slightly polished and is open to the elements. The beam is just a splattered, uneven flood with a slight bright spot in the center. It is barely better than an unfocused, directional LED. Somewhat functional, but inferior to all my other coast lights by far. It is also dim enough to limit it's usefulness to much more than room distance or extreme close up work like it is probably intended for. I might find a use for it, but I still have to take off stars due to the lack of a real reflector and limited beam quality. You can clearly see a lens element in the pictures in the listing, I wonder if they changed the design of if I got a knockoff...

Other versions of this flashlight (G19) have a lens that really helps the beam -- a nice, clear, even light. This is just a bare LED -- diffuse light. It's still earned a spot in my pocket most days, but I'll probably buy the G19 to replace it.EDIT: This review was updated to correct that the version with a lens was the G19, not an older version of the G10. Bumped it up to 4 stars because I shouldn't have expected a lens.

I own several Coast flashlights, including a few G10 and G25 models. I really like how solid and well built these are. They do cost more than those lightweight, fragile, disposable LED flashlights you buy at the dollar store. These are built to last a long time. I believe the G10 is the smallest model that still uses a regular AAA battery (not those useless button batteries)

Its insanley durable and the battery last forever on it (change the duracell it comes with!!) It survived going through the washing machine and dryer not once but TWICE!!! and still works like its brand new and the light beam isnt the brightest but the beam is very defined, all in all its a great buy i will buy more!!

This is an inspection light so it lights evenly across its beam but little outside that. So it is great for looking for stuff but maybe not as good for lighting the path for multiple people. It is perfect size for the key chain, but comes with no way to attach it.

I didn't get what I ordered. The picture showed a silver flashlight with a silver button and a small hole on the side that looks like it would allow you to put it on a keychain (which is why I bought that one and not the black one with no hole at the end). What I got was a silver flashlight with a black button on the end (not silver) and no hole on the end to be able to add it to a keychain.

Great light at an unbeatable price.... Coast products are always top notch this light is no exception it is actually much better than others I paid three times as much for

I love these lights. I work for a utility and use it all the time. Normally I lose it well before it ever shows signs of degradation. Been buying them for years.

8/10/17. This wasn't quit what I expected but turned out way better. I wrapped a Velcro tie around it reduce tendency to roll and carry it in my pocket all the time. Beam size and intensity is excellent.

Already have purchased 4 yet one stopped working. Yet second light is in use and the other two are put away. For the size/illumination of this flashlight its well worth the price.

The light output is uneven with a bright center reminiscent of the old style bulb flashlights. The light brightness falls off rapidly from the center. Coast makes great flashlights but this isn't one of them. The G19 is much better.
