Backpacker's Pantry Three Cheese Mac & Cheese - Freeze Dried Backpacking & Camping Food - Emergency Food - 24 Grams of Protein, Vegetarian

My son loved this meal on a recent backpacking trip. He wasn't sure about some other meals we bought, so we got two of these in case he didn't like the others. He ended up eating both of them.Well, he also ate all the other meals, too, but he looked forward to this meal both times and wasn't disappointed. The consistency is a little weird compared to something you might make at home, but the flavor was spot on.I know he'll request these again next time we're shopping for dehydrated meals.

I keep foods like this in my truck in case of emergency or just a change of pace. Recently I was on my way back from Canada and my truck started having problems. While my truck was at the dealership I was in a hotel room. I had packed several of these pouches of food in the bag I took to the hotel to keep meal expenses down. I was using the coffee maker in the room for the hot water. And I didn't have a measuring cup with me so I was kind of guesstimating the amount of water I put in. The results weren't bad. Granted the water was not at the boiling point so I let the pouch stand a little longer than instructed. I think if the water had been boiling hot the macaroni would have turned out a bit better. But my hotel experience was not bad. The macaroni and cheese was quite good. I may have added a bit too much water because mine was a little bit thinner than I prefer. But don't let my experience keep you from getting this food. Use my experience as a learning experience. I was improvising in a hotel room and still had a great meal. I'm going to get more of this.

Was a bit rough getting the noodles all cooked right. The water it says to add was definitely not enough but I ended up adding too much anyway. Flavor was still solid and the noodles ended up just a bit uneven. Can tell there is nice cheese in there, It's better than a easy-mac, and filling .

Took this on my backpacking trip, and it was delicious. I added 2 parmesan cheese packets from Pizza Hut to give it a little oomph, but it was great without it. I was really impressed with the amount of protein, which as a vegetarian can be hard to find in these situations. Would buy it again!

Personally i found it to be not so great but it wasn't horrible. It was a bit bland and not much flavor and a bit watery. I've had others of the same brand that were good. Not sure if it was this specific type.

I was impressed with this meal - it tasted great, was creamy (a good consistency) and the portion size was perfect for one hungry hiker (or two not as hungry hikers). Will definitely buy again for another trip.

On the description said it was freeze dried, so I was expecting a texture and flavor similar to freeze dried Mac and cheese I had before, I followed the instruction and when my friend and I took a bite, keep in mind I used boiling water, the macaroni was still hard, and the cheese didn’t mix well, I did let it sit for 8 minutes first, stirred it quite vigorously since stirring it was enough to melt the cheese and after letting it sit for 7 minutes as per instruction, the Macaroni was still hard, the cheese wasn’t dissolved all the way and it’s SALTY AFFFFFF I’m Asian and I eat a lot of salt and msg in my food but this a different level is salty, it’s SALTY SALTY, I gave the rest of the packs away and just went out and bought Kraft Mac and cheese instead

I was very surprised with the flavor of this meal, it was very good. Would purchase again and this was perfect for our camping trip.
