Even though it’s advertised as Yi cameras, these are KAMI cameras. Its true that its a rebranding of the same camera but as a multiple YI/KAMI camera user, i identified the following differences. 1.Kami cams have low wifi reception compared to Yi cameras so it takes longer to connect through app 2.Kami has a low microphone sensitivity compared to Yi so when you listen to conversations either real time or recorded, its hard to figure out. Due to the mentioned shortcomings, i wanted to return the cameras but there is no way to identify actually ur buyin a Kami or Yi camera as the branding of the box mentioned as Yi. If its a new stock, then its definitely a Kami camera though the box says Yi

Positives: Hardware works well. Negatives: Application is difficult to navigate videos. Cloud service is flaky and they don't communicate addressing the issues; it tends to resolve on its own. A major network outage (that's what I'm calling it) occurred for a few days in early January 2025 where cloud footage was missing. Obnoxiously interrupts your security experience with advertisements on almost every click, EVEN IF YOU PURCHASE THEIR CLOUD. Advertisements badger the customer to buy their cloud plans or third-party products. They've now added a 90-second time limit to viewing your own home security footage. I didn't pay to be bombarded with ads. I won't give these cameras away, as I don't want to pass on the curse to anyone else; I'll simply discard them. I will NOT give Yi Technology another dime.

Easy to setup.

I initially liked these cameras. I upgraded my old one to the 2k version for a more crisp and clear view. It worked well but recently they updated the app and now forces you to subscribe in order to view in HD otherwise you are stuck in SD mode which is blurry even though you paid for a better camera. It is such a scam! Very upset with this update. I could have save money or change camera company. Do Not buy especially if you do not want to subscribe. They have a memory card option but with the new update that became useless.

I have been using Yi home camera 1080p since year 2018. It works very well no matter footage replay or motion detection record with a SD card. No subscription at that time. Now we wants to upgrade to the newer camera with higher resolution. However, I found it very disappointing that no footage replay now and the motion detection records nothing for hours with the new version! It is really annoying that the old version is not available for purchase and I don’t know if these key points will be improved with subscription or not. Trying to figure it out.
