Mr. Grumpy Nails Fatherhood (Mr Men for Grown Ups)

I feel this book had potential but didn’t quite hit the mark.
Mr. Grumpy doesn’t think he’s a grumpy dad. He runs around after his children, taking them to parties and swimming, that is until his eldest daughter pushes his buttons because she wants what her friends have, a computer and phone at eight-years-old. When he snaps and yells about what he had in his day he realises he is grumpy and decides to do something about it.He texts all his friends and asks them out to the pub but they are all too busy, that is until three months later when they have managed to plan a night out together.Mr. Grumpy Nails Fatherhood is part of a series of Mr. Men & Little Misses for grown-ups. I reviewed Little Miss Busy Surviving Motherhood last week and laughed along with it and enjoyed the story. I could also nod along in agreement. This book didn’t quite live up to the Little Miss book. The plot is essentially a father realising that times have changed and wanting to relive his youth so arranges a night out clubbing but the dads all realise they are too tired to last the night and that they prefer spending time with their families.Having been married for nearly eighteen-years and know a lot of married couples I’ve never once met a father who felt like the solution to feeling old is to go clubbing. Buying lots of merchandise from old movies, gadgets or even a sports car/motorbike are the kinds of things I’ve seen men do.I feel this book had potential but didn’t quite hit the mark. The artwork by Roger Hargreaves is amazing as always and there is a lot of text so worth the price if you think this would make a great gift for a man in your life or even a Secret Santa gift.

Amusing little book
Brilliant and very amusing little book. Brought this as part of father's day present after coming across it looking for something else. So pleased I did, anyone who's seen it has chuckled and related to parts of it !

The return of Mr Men is glorious.
No doubt going to be buying more of these, much like the ladybird books Mr Men are back in a far more adult setting. Overall they work really well and the illustrations do a fantastic job at staying in line with the quotes. There has never been a better time to become a Mr Men fan.

Mr Grumpy, the funny realities of parenthood (he loves it really)
A very funny book and so true for my husband. I really laughed reading it as did he. I bought it as a Father's day gift. Definitely recommend it as a sweet and funny little gift for a Dad.

Great little hardbacked Mr Men book
Bought this for fathers day but, would be great for any Dads birthday or just as a nice thankyou present. I've sneaked a peak (before the big day) and couldn't put it down it is very funny and so far I think my 8 year old daughter will also find it amusing when she gives it to her dad and seeing him chuckle too. Was surprised to see it was a hardback book so nice quality not like the flimsy children's books. Highly recommend it. Great stocking filler too for Christmas.

Disappointing attempt to broaden the appeal of the Mr Men / LIttle Miss titles
Purchased as an intended gift and had not expected the trivial style of 'modern' content. The images are in the Roger Hargreaves style, but light content by other named authors. Whilst the children's Mr / Miss books are engaging and very much appreciated, this diversification does not raise the bar. Disappointed and returned at my cost.

Fun book for any father!
A fun book for any new - or experienced - father who is aware of the Mr. Men franchise. My husband has been reading Little Miss books to our daughter since she was born and we recently bought the Mr. Men collection for our son so when I saw this I just had to buy it as a stocking filler and he was thrilled.
