A wonderful follow up after visiting Rhodes and Malta.

Branford was an excellent scholar and has written quite a bit regarding the Knights Hospitaller. This is an interesting, well written, and well researched, if somewhat short, overview of the exploits of the Hospitallers from their exploits from the crusades, through their exile and reformation as sea-raiders at Rhodes, and their climatic defense of Malta against overwhelming odds in 1565. An enjoyable and exciting historical read.
