New 1000ml Lab Essential Oil Distillation Apparatus Water Distiller Purifier Glassware Kits w/Separatory Funnel Condenser Pipe

I wanted to distill essential oils but this thing did NOT come with any instructions to get it operational. The equipment is all wrong for steam distillation. The guy is not answering my emails for instructions to use it and I will be returning it as it does not fit my need. Would NOT recommend for beginners ~ UPDATE: After a bit of research in distillation, reading a few beginner chemistry books and actually using this kit, I must say i am quite pleased with it's performance. I changed my original star review from 2 to 5 stars. I will be keeping it after all. If you plan to buy this as your first kit I would recommend getting a second support stand. It made the unit more stable. I also swapped the spirit burner for a hot plate. An aquatic pump kept the water flowing through the condenser perfectly.

It works well, when you understand how to use it. My package arrived without instructions, so I had to write the seller to send me the links for video instructions. Then they send me the links, very clear. I don't understand why they don't publish the video links openly.So, the tips are that you need to cut the hose and put a bucket of ice cold water, then and then with the syringe suck the water from the distiller to generate the siphon. In the kit you will find a metal clip, so you can close the exit of cold water, and open it the times you need when the water in the distiller comes hot.Nice machine for starting.

I didn't like that it didn't come with assembly instructions. It also had a broken piece.

- First the instructions did not specify the right way to configure in a way that would support the weight of the boiler- Burner cradle would not hold the burner because the diameter of the cradle was just slightly larger than the burner bottle. We were able to resolve this issue by wrapping tape around the burner bottle so that it wouldn't slip through the cradle.- Next the burner cradle one of the legs broke after it was dropped lightly on the floor. It's made of steel so this is quite surprising.- Finally the felt holders came off the grips causing the condensation chamber to come crashing down destroying the entire set up and the beaker underneath it.All this happened within the first couple hours after opening. I really did try to make it work but it was unfortunately too poorly designed. I wouldn't recommend this product. I'm very disappointed as now I will have to wait to buy a new different model.

Came with all parts intact. Very nice.

I was missing the stoppers for the beakers. Not real impressed with quality. I guess i will use as a begginers set of glassware

The build quality was really good for the price and it distilled really well. It even included a thermometer which I wasn't hoping to get.

As some background I have a degree in chemistry and have worked 5 years in a QA lab doing mostly wet chemistry. If you are looking for highly accurate and durable glassware go buy some Thermo Fisher glassware; however, if you are on a budget for some of your home chemistry needs this is a very attractive alternative. Everything arrived intact and *very* well packed in cut out style foam so you can use the box & foam for storing it later which is nice if you don't want beakers and flasks mixing with your eating dishes in your cupboards. The quality is a little on the thin side but that's in comparison to what I'm used to seeing (Thermo Fisher) for home projects this will do just fine. There was a slightly sloppy weld on the Condenser that might leak if I ever intended to use a cold water bath to assist with condensing but nothing a dab of super glue won't fix and I don't plan on using a cold water bath so not worth getting that part exchanged.I plan on using this for some basic essential oils. But be aware that there is only a single flask to boil so you will need to rig something up if you want to steam distill with this kit. I would *not* use this for distilling moonshine. This kit is inappropriate for that you will blind yourself with methanol poisoning. This *is* a good kit if you are a homeschooling parent and don't want to invest a crap ton of money in glassware.Overall 4/5 for quality and 5/5 for cost.
