Electric lighter, FORHU Electronic Arc Lighters Windproof USB Rechargeable Lighters

My new lighter arrived safely nestled in its attractive black presentation box.The first thing that struck me was that it is much bigger and heavier than I had anticipated. I would regard this more as a table or desk lighter than one for the trouser pocket, although it would be fine for a large jacket or rucksack.I like the design but am slightly concerned about the base. There is no cover for the micro USB charging hole and the on/off slider switch looks a bit fragile to me. I would also be slightly concerned about the possible longer term effects that exposure to moisture could have on such a tiny switch. The lid opens and closes incredibly easily, and it feels almost like there is some kind of powered or magnetic assistance.I love that there is no combustible fuels involved in using this lighter and that it produces a clean chemical free ignition. There is a slight hiss which is presumable caused by the arc superheating the air and moisture around it.It takes just over an hour to fully charge it from any USB A source, with the tiny 'micro' lead that is provided. The blue light comes on to warn you that recharging is necesarry and it turns off again when fully charged, although the lighter apparently dose not break the circuit. There is a specific warning against the danger of overcharging, and a particular reference to recharging as soon as the indicator light illuminates, in order to maximise the life of the battery.Use of the lighter is impressive and close proximity, without actual contact to the impressive crossed sparks is all that is required for ignition, as they will generate a temperature of about 400˚C. It is good that the on button is placed so that your fingers can keep well away from the arcs, and this is of particular vale when igniting candles or my pipe. There is also no need to worry about wind as there is no gentle flame to blow out, and the arcs should keep going in a hurricane.In spite of my tentative reservations, I feel I have to give a five star rating as I have nothing solid to complain about and I can't penalise the manufacturer for what I think might happen. For the time being I intend to enjoy using this, but will report back if anything changes.

My husband liked it so much I bought him another! So he has one for home and one for work (where it might get dirty). He thought it was so cool when he got it on his birthday that he almost forgot about his new watch!! Also, someone on here commented that the lighter won't stand up because of the on/off switch on the bottom but both of these stand up fine. My husband smokes rollies and trying to light them in the wind was terrible. This little 'space-looking gadget' has fixed that. Would definitely recommend this product and this seller; both lighters were delivered extremely quickly, in fact the second one came the very next day without any extra postage!

When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the rainbow colour which i love!The button lights up when you turn it on by the switch at the bottom and acts as a reminder to turn it off before you put it away; it sounds like the arcs ignite if the button is pressed and it is not switched off, even if the lid is closed.I like the fact that the lid has magnets inside which hold it closed or open, which is useful when igniting barbecues, fires etc and the lighter will be held upside down.Some people had said about the charging micro USB port / hole not having a protective cap, I would agree.The design is nice but would probably need something a little more weather proof (water resistant) for outdoor use, i.e. camping.It seems very windproof and in my opinion is more functional than a jet lighter where the flame gets blown around.

I bought this to be more eco-friendly and because I was tired of buying crappy disposable lighters. It works pretty well for lighting pipes and cigarettes, though you have to hold it to your smoking object of choice for a bit longer than with a regular lighter. It seems fairly windproof and does last for a good while. I’m not a regular smoker but have long nights where this thing is pretty much on non-stop, and it seems to hold its charge for one of those nights, and recharge pretty quickly. It’s very convenient and all my friends are fascinated by it. Not to mention, the rainbow color is sick!Anyway I think it’s a very high quality product and the packaging it came in was nice.

Had a bit of a problem at first with the way this lights, it didn't work on the first charge (lit up once and then died) the on/off switch on the base is a bit off on mine and I had to really push it hard into the corner of the on position before the power came on though it has loosened the now. Overall it is a decent lighter, but it is a bit too bulky for lighting candles well, cigarette's are fine.I did contact the seller regarding the lighter not working in the first instance and they requested a video of it charging and then of the lighter not working, which I appreciate may be necessary to send a replacement but felt a little rude in place of asking what was actually up and offering a potential solution.

Not entirely convinced. Yes it works. After a week of light use I couldn't close the lid. There are 2 small magnets that hold the lid closed, one in the base, the other it the lid. The one from the lid had come out of its holder and looks awkward to get back in. Heavier than I expected. If I can repair it I may use it but although it came in a nice box and looks the part the build quality doesn't match. More like something you'd pick up at a market for about a fiver.

I bought the silver one for my husband. He LOVES it and pretends it's a mini lightsaber hilt! It's become a talking point at his workplace. Many of them didn't know that rechargeable lighters existed. Also, I'm getting sick of the amount of non-bio degradable plastic in the world. Unsurprisingly, I'm not a fan of disposable lighters! Buying this seemed like a responsible eco-friendly decision to make.
