I was hopeful for this device, but was not blown away. It's pretty small, so on one hand it's convenient to carry around, but on the other hand the actual sharpening surfaces are very narrow. There were no instructions to speak of, so you're left to your own devices to figure out how to use it properly - or do some online research, which is an unnecessary pain. I would recommend looking for a different alternative.

I for one wish they would have had instructions on when to use the different sides. No grooves so to me it is difficult to use. I bought a different one.

Pocket size sharpener, easy to carry around and can used to sharpen multiple gardening tools. Easy to use even with short or curved blades. Priced well.

The tungsten carbide sharpener and the ceramic hone are extremely effective together. The only reason this is not my favorite sharpener is that I dislike the feel of the diamond grit sides, so I can only really use this when I am wearing work gloves. The diamond surfaces come into play when a damaged blade needs its edge reshaped. The 320# side makes short work of the rough shaping, then the 600# side takes care of clean-up and preps the blade to be properly honed and polished. The angle indexes molded into the 320# side help with making the edge consistent, while the 3° difference between them aids in setting a micro-bevel that helps extend the useful life of the sharpened edge. This is the sharpener that spends the most time in contact with my tools.
