Material is soft but has a great compression to it. I bought a medium to help after a tummy tuck. It did the trick; I didn't like how the panty material was too stretchy and allowed it to stretch too far and the belly part to ride higher than I needed. So I was constantly pulling it back down. Maybe I needed a smaller size, not sure. I did like it, though.
