We recently adopted a cat and he was understandably nervous and hiding a lot while adjusting to his new home. I bought this hoping it would help him feel more comfortable and relaxed, but unfortunately I didn’t notice any difference at all. I kept it plugged in as directed, but it didn’t seem to have any effect on his behavior. I know every cat is different, but it just didn’t work for us.

I am extremely optimistic that this is working, and it is such a relief! At the end of September, 2025 my five-year-old cat had a tumor removed with her spleen and a kidney, additionally she spent 2 nights in the critical care unit of a pet hospital. A month later (end of October), after a full recovery from her life saving surgery, we took her to an oncologist where they did an ultrasound and x-ray to check for regrowth of the tumor, no signs of regrowth, they suggested another ultrasound in a month. We took her for another ultrasound at the end of November, no signs of regrowth. About three weeks later (mid-December) we took her to the vet again because she was licking and chewing her fur off on one side of her body. The vet did a thorough exam and gave her a flea treatment (even though she is 100% indoor but may have been bit at one of her vet appointments) and she was prescribed a short round of prednisolone to help with her inflamed and itchy skin in the area she was licking and chewing. Immediately following that last appointment, she started hiding from us and would not let us approach her. She went from being a very confident, happy, social kitty who followed us around and loved to be pet and snuggled to not wanting anything to do with us, like she didn't trust us. My immediate reaction was to take her back to the vet but I suspected her sudden change in behavior may be anxiety brought on by going to the vet so many times in a short period of time and was associating us coming close to her to getting picked up and going to the vet. I was concerned that taking her to the vet again after just going two weeks prior would potentially exacerbate her anxiety. I spoke with my vet and we started giving her gabapentin to help relax her. After a few days, she still was not acting like herself and would move away from us if we got too close, she acted very timid in general, but was not hiding any longer, it was a small improvement, but still concerning because it is not her normal behavior. The vet hospital where she stayed after surgery used pheromone diffusers in the critical care unit for cats, and although I was a little skeptical, I started to read reviews and saw enough positive reviews that made me decide to order one. That was Wednesday night, it arrived first thing Thursday and I immediately plugged it in. I don't know if it is a combination of time, the gabapentin, and the pheromones, but the noticeable difference in her after the first day was undeniable - she was more relaxed and would let us come close to her, sometimes we could even briefly pet her. I ordered just one diffuser and moved it to whatever room she was in. Because I could see an improvement, I ordered two more the next day (Friday) and they were delivered the same day - I immediately put them in each of the rooms she primarily spends most of her time. By Saturday, she started letting us pet her and give her snuggles, she still has moments where she does not want to be pet, but a huge difference. It is now Sunday, she is clearly more relaxed and she is letting us pet her give her lots of snuggles, and she is purring again. She is not 100% herself yet and we still approach her cautiously, but she is visibly much happier, relaxed, and friendlier. Based on her sudden improvement after using the diffusers, I am confident that these have worked, and it feels like a miracle. If you have a stressed or anxious cat, I highly recommend trying it. It may not have an immediate effect like it did for my sweet girl, but I would give it time, it is absolutely worth giving a try.

I have 2 cats, one I had since she was a baby and the other is a rescue. They got along great for years, then out of the blue the one started to attack the other, I tried everything that I could so they could at least sit on the room without them fighting. I bought this as a last resort, I bought 2 of them, for the kitchen and living room, the other for the bedroom, (my house is only 490sqft), but wanted complete coverage. If used properly they shouldn't and plugged in right side up and not upside down, they shouldn't leaked, mine never did. Slowly they began to work there magic and they stopped fighting. They are really easy to use, can fit in pretty much any outlet, and quite durable, I've dropped it a couple times when trying to change out the liquid, but still works great. Worth the buy, but are a little pricey in my option.

HIstory: I have a 7 month old female who, her and 3 siblings were rescued by a friend at 4 weeks. Mom was nowhere to be found and all four were in rough shape. A plea for help went out to help foster the kits until a home could be found. I agreed to foster one, became attached and decided to keep her. She needed to be bottle fed with KMR formula, had worms and severe diarrhea. Off to the VET we went and is in perfect health today. She has been spoiled with attention, toys, love and was a very loving cat who curled up around my neck when she napped. At 4 months she started becoming aggressive by attacking my face in the middle of the night for whatever reasons and drew blood. This aggression has increased to the point where it impossible to touch her. She will launch and latch onto my hand, growling, kicking & biting as if it was prey, not let go and draw blood. When she does this it is very painful and difficult to get her loose. So now I just respect her space and still show her affection but it has to be on her terms. Calming: A friend had purchased some calming collars for their cats and gave me one. That was nothing more than a Lavender walking air freshener. The only benefit it had is that I knew what room she was hiding in because the scent was very overpowering. Into the trash that went. Feliway: Researched their website, saw that is VET approved but I had a gut feeling and I was very hesitant to purchase this for $30. But, I thought I would give this a try and perhaps it will prove me wrong. My gut feeling turned out to be correct. I have been using the diffuser for 5 days now and there has been absolutely no change with her aggression. I understand that, like human beings, all cats are different and by no means am I discrediting Feliway. Perhaps 5 days isn't enough time for her? My advice, this is a 50/50. Use your judgement or go with your gut feeling. There is no guarantee that this product will work for all cats. For the cost of refills, I will not be ordering any in the future. There is a good article to read about the product on Cats.com. One paragraph states "To make it even more complicated, most of the research showing the supposed positive benefits of Feliway products was funded by Ceva Animal Health. This is the company that produces Feliway. Whilst scientific studies are bound by strict ethical rules, the results are still harder to trust."

Don't know if it does anything. I have a smart psycho cat that will intentionally antagonize you and do things she knows she shouldn't, just so you'll play with her. You have to pick her up and hold her with one hand against your side like luggage or she'll bite you. If you don't let her sniff your hand before touching her, she'll attempt to bite and swat you. It's almost like living with a feral cat, even thought we got her at 6 weeks, and she's now a year old. She started peeing on the floor around the house outside her litter box. That's why I bought this Feliway. And since we got her a year ago, she's always aggravated our other older cat. Growling, hissing, swatting. I thought it would get better with time, but no. Since I plugged Feliway in, she sometimes seems a little calmer. When she's tired, you can pet her to your hearts content where as you couldn't before. So I THINK Feliway helped a little. It seems to have brought her from 95% physo, to maybe 70% psycho. She still pees sometimes around the house, but not daily like it got to at one point. But that may be bc I also bought another litter box. (Our older cat seems completely unaffected by Feliway, but she was always a chill cat.) And for refills for Feliway, buy from Walmart. Literally half price from Amazon, and veterinarian. $30 vs $60.

Our vet suggested this for our anxious cat and I’ll admit I was skeptical. A plug-in that releases something I can’t smell or see, for a problem that’s been going on for years? I figured it was money down the drain. It surprised me. Within about two weeks he was noticeably calmer — a lot less swatting and biting, and he stopped going after us and the furniture the way he had been. He’s not a different cat, but he’s clearly less on edge and much easier to be around. Not cheap, but it’s done more for him than anything else we’ve tried. Would recommend giving it a full month before you judge it.

I have 3 cats, and foe the last 3 or 4 months, I've been in a middle of the last big move of my life. If you have cats, you know they don't like chaos or disorder or messes-- or change of any kind. And they've had to be put outside when people came to view our house (we're selling to move across the country). They prefer to stay inside, except the 1-year-old. My other two are around 10-11 years old- and one of them "sprays" when he's upset. As my living room and other areas started to be packed up and moved to the garage, I noticed he had "marked" my treadmill. My daughter recommended this, she said it worked wonderful when they adopted a feral diameter they found while camping. I honestly didn't have high hopes for this. It's plugged in by my treadmill right now- I wish I didn't have to plug it into a power strip- it's designed for a wall plug. I didn't know how far the range would be. These pheromones are something only cats can smell. Being spring, I have the door open a lot, but despite that, it seems to be working! My orange Tabby hasn't sprayed, and I even gave away the sofa they loved. Nothing is even left in the living room except boxes of records, boxes of wall mirrors, and 3 record cabinets. It's really a mess,but despite it all, my cats seem calm. I wish this came in a plug I could use in my car- I'll be driving the three of them and my Jack Russel Terrier across the country in a very full mini van, and I'm really worried about that... I definitely recommend this product. I will be looking into their other offerings, hopefully there will be something I can use on the van- that could turn disastrous very fast in any number of ways. This container-I have it plugged in full-time, sideways- will hopefully last 3 months. My daughter says they last "a few months", but I don't know if she unplugs it sometimes. It's a little expensive, but so worth it! It has a nightlight, and glows a lovely green. Heat is not an issue either. It's about the size of a Glade Plug-in, a little bigger.

This product worked like an absolute charm integrating a recent semi-feral with my other cats. My process was: 1. Start the diffusor about 8-12hrs before he got here. 2. Keep him segregated for a few days in my office where I am all day but away from the other animals. 3. Then soft supervised intros with the other cats. 4. After 1 week, he was fully integrated. The new addition showed zero signs of stress after his trapping and introduction to my home and acclimated to the other cats and household very well. No howling, marking, fighting, etc. and they’re all males! The ONLY issue has been the dogs. I have been in rescue for 40 years and will attest that every animal/situation is different yet this is the first time I have used this product in the several new cats I have brought into my house with this very same pack of dogs and this is the first time that there has been a reaction. Not from all, only 1 but it only takes 1 to set off the pack mentality if not contained appropriately. My dogs and cats are always segregated from each other on a 12 hr household rotation. Cats have bedroom side and dogs have main house during day, at night, we switch. They can see each other but have no direct physical contact. I work from home thus am with all my animals all day every day. For reference, I have 1 German Shepherd and 2 Dobermans. All are good with cats alone, I simply don’t trust the pack mentality of the group and sometimes, they love the cats too much which the cats don’t always appreciate. All my animals are rescues and I have little info on their backgrounds but each of the dogs has been with me for 4 years or more. I have 1 diffusor and it rotates with the cats while integrating this new comer. The dogs have no direct exposure to it yet the behavior of my German Shepherd after just 1-2 days of indirect exposure to the pheromones is blatantly out of character. He has become food aggressive, he is showing elevated guarding behaviors when there is nothing going on, barking at stuff that isn’t there, starting fights with the other dogs, constantly sniffing around as if he smells something/someone the same as he would if a raccoon or something was on the other side of my 6ft wooden privacy fence and even bit me when I attempted to diffuse a situation that would turn into a fight. This mommas boy was simply not in his right mind. He is not a high drive dog normally but one that the Shepherd community would refer to as a “Potato.” *Note, this did not occur in the first 5 days that the diffusor was only in the office while the new cat was segregated even though my dogs knew he was in there, it started when I moved the diffusor out to the common living area of the house upon doing soft intro with my other cats. Since my dogs were never in a room with an active diffusor, I’m guessing that enough pheromones were left in the air even after it was moved with the cats during the rotation. Now, given that this product claims to release feline pheromones, it would make sense that dogs would smell it and react in some way. The difference between this product and something outside is that this product is consistently in the air whereas someone/thing outside will move along its merry way taking their scent with them. If this product were bogus, not only would I see no difference in my cats, but I wouldn’t see a difference in my dogs either. I see a difference in both. To test all of it, I stopped using the diffusor completely for 24hrs. During that time, the dogs were fine while the new cat became skittish and took to retreating under the bed all day so there you have it. I reintroduced the diffusor but, in the course of my twice daily household/animal rotation, was sure to air out the area the diffusor was in after removing it for 15-30 mins before allowing the dogs into that area. This method has worked to keep the integrating cat calm/happy while not skitzing out my dog thus, for the cats sake, I plan to use it following this protocol until it runs out which will likely be about 30 days. Through all of this, I can attest that this product works very well for cats however, I highly caution those with dogs in the household to: 1. Segregate the diffusor and the cat away from your dogs. 2. Air the diffusor room/area out well by opening doors/windows before allowing dogs into the room/area where the diffusor was. 3. Supervise/monitor your dogs closely while using this product even when following suggestions above, especially if there are young children or otherwise vulnerable parties around. 4. Use the diffusor for a limited time only if you have dogs in the household. I am a very experienced dog handler and always alert to the body language/behaviors of my dogs. Regardless of size, breed, age, length of time in the home, etc. every dog has the potential for a hidden prey drive, anxiety, reactive behaviors, etc. that could be ignited by this product. Again, every animal is different, and this could have nothing to do with the diffusor at all, but it was way too coincidental to not explore my methodology in using it. I want people to be able to make informed decisions for their pets so I hope this helps as the consequences of not being mindful could mean someone getting hurt or worse. If you don’t have dogs, don’t hesitate. This product, in my experience, is a god send for your cats. My cats have never been so easy to accept a new cat before and it even seems to have curbed the marking behaviors that one exhibited even before the new cat. Would they have liked the new guy without the diffusor? Maybe, but I’m sure the old guy would have marked his heart out anyway. PS. My unit does not get concerningly hot like others describe. No hotter than a standard Glade Plug In and its actively in use all the time unless moving it in the rotation.
