I got this for and I NAV project for my remote control airplanes but since it’s the Office season, I’m using it for our Duelo obstacle avoidance car. The quality of the sensor feels very high-quality and I’ve been getting very accurate readings when comparing to the HR-S04.

Realize this thing runs on 3.3v LVTTL and not 5V. A Raspberry PI works with 3.3v serial lines, so this should not be a problem. But other devices may use 5v logic. I found a library on Github, because the data output is not coded message and not ASCII. But once I setup the serial port and the Github library in python, I was able to communicate with the range finder and test it. So far the accuracy is good. I plan to use this on a robot for simple object avoidance. It should work fine. It basically looks and feels like an expensive range finder. Next I need to see if it has benefits in odd environments that make it better than the cheap ones. It has a nice small waterproof packaging and threaded holes in the back.
