Makes working with a gimbal even better
This little adapter is so incredibly useful and fast and makes working with my Ronin RS-3 easier and less of a hassle, especially when trying to quickly set down the assembly. A wonderful addition and it is well made and well engineered. Highly recommend!

Another SmallRig winner
I have a lot of camera gear but don’t have a mini tripod. At times, a low profile one can be very useful. So, being a product by the reputable SmallRig, I just had to try it. As an Amazon Vine reviewer, I am offered new-to-market products, if I want them, at no cost to me, in exchange for an honest, objective, and comprehensive review. . This mini tripod is typical SmallRig; well-built, high quality, and sturdy. The packaging is simple and eco-friendly but with the padded cardboard wrap and tissue paper is very protective during shipping. There is also a small rubber cap to protect the thread. . The feet are held in place by a sprung-loaded ring at the top. Slide the ring up and the legs are free to spring open. This is best done after the tripod is installed on whatever needs supporting. The ¼ inch tripod thread is fixed. So, you spin and screw the whole tripod onto the camera, holding the closed legs like a handle, then, once tight, push up on the ring to deploy the legs. It’s slightly awkward as there’s little room when the legs start to deploy and they push against your hand. The springs are not strong enough to hurt though. . Each leg has a textured silicone insert on the outside and the profile of the closed legs is nicely curved to fit the grip of the hand, the rubber providing extra grippiness. So, the tripod can also be used as a handle for additional camera support. There are rubber pads/feet at the end of each leg. . I have a SmallRig cage on my Panasonic Lumix S5ii camera and there are several tapped holes in it for a tripod. However, I tried the tripod with my already-fitted, heavy Sigma 60-600mm lens and attached it to one of the several threaded holes in the L-bracket of the lens. Fortunately, one of the tripod legs aligned with the lens towards the front, providing good stability. Unfortunately, you can’t set the leg where you want it yourself as the final rotational position depends on when the tripod tightens. As long as the tripod circumference is well outside the center of gravity of the camera assembly, the leg positions won’t be an issue. For my case, the tripod worked perfectly, with just a little vibration if I tapped the lens. I’d definitely use a timer to avoid risking a blurry shot with this setup. Other than the vibration, the SmallRig tripod was very stable. For shorter lenses, it would work even better. . CONCLUSION: . SmallRig never disappoints and this mini tripod is no exception. It is very well built, has some nice attention to detail, like the grip and supplied thread protector, and at $26, it is very good value. Quality camera gear can be very expensive. This is actually a lower price than I’d expect for what it is. . Definitely recommended by this amateur photographer!

A smart, sturdy design that will not disappoint
I have several selfie stick-type tripods. For years, one has been a major nuisance—not because of the telescoping stick or camera mount—but because of the tripod legs. They simply would not stay extended. Instead, they dangled loosely, requiring me to hold the stick with one hand and guide it to the ground while holding the legs in position with the other. At other times, I set the tripod on the ground while keeping the legs spread apart with my foot. So for me, the SmallRig tripod is not only a game changer—it’s a game saver. Not only do the legs stay open, they can more-easily be attached to the stick with the legs closed, then are splayed by sliding a top release plate upward. So far, no matter how I grip it, my fingers don’t get pinched in the process. Measured from the 1/4"-20 screw on top of the tripod, each leg extends six inches. That’s stable enough for most uses, but for full extension of taller sticks, I wish they were longer. Then again, at 6.7 ounces, the weight of the metal pod is 15 percent heavier than the floppy plastic one I had been using and boasts a load bearing capacity of 22 pounds. The support feet are silicone coated, and a silicone pad around the mounting screw provide good grip where it is needed most.

Sits way to high
Item is not safe. It sits waay too high and allows for the gimble to easily tip over. It also feels flimsy, like pressing down on it will cause the plastic to snap Update: It snapped after about 10 uses. I put very light pressure on top of the gimble and a leg snapped off

High quality tripod legs
This is a nice little combo selfie-stick/vlogging mount/tripod. It's high quality for the price and feels well made. I trust my expensive Canon camera on it. One thing I wasn't sure of is what quick release meant with regard to this tripod. I wasn't sure if it has a quick release head of some kind. What it means is that the legs are quick release. You pull up on the tripod head and it releases the lock on the legs and they spring out (not in a hard dangerous way). I actually like this approach rather than when you have to pull the legs apart and hope you don't break the hinges. Because of the quick release leg mechanism, the legs only open to a wide width -- there's no halfway open. As a result, you need an area with about a one foot diameter to set it down. I also am not sure I would want it as the base of a tall monopod or anything else that could get top-heavy unless you put something very light like an RGB fill light. I plan on using it as a travel vlogging setup since it can easily fit in any backpack or day pack. I'm very pleased with it.

Handy little tripod
SmallRig has earned a solid reputation for making quality content creation equipment and selling it at a value price point. Nothing fancy here, just a well made and versatile little tripod. It has a 1/4" screw mount so it can accept all kinds of devices. You can also attach a mount so you can use it with your GoPro and other action cams. Couldn't be easier to use--mount your device and activate the quick release. You'll be using this one a lot. Highly recommended!

For the trail camera... superb!
This is a great little tripod... it can sit very low to the ground with a wide base, so it doesn't topple easily with the trail camera.

Perfect, light weight tripod!
I didn't even know it had the neat little quick-release ring until I mounted my gear to it. It's perfect. Doesn't slip around, looks great, like all SmallRig gear. and snaps closed until you unlock the quick-release ring. I use it for a Zoom F6 audio field recorder
