I LOVE this CPU and it is the best I have ever had easily with 16 cores! Best CPU I have had
This CPU is a BEAST!!! I loved it from the install which was easier than pie. I got it working right away after 86'ing a bad cpu that wasted a week of my time. Time is money, and so is my PC now. Responsive and fast and I can render tough scenes in 3d quickly now. It does max out the temps but I would expect that with power like this, and it is cool all other times which was a big concern considering I had the Ryzen 5 3600x last go around which got too hot all the time. But this is a great value and it is compatible with the Ryzen 9 5900XT like a hand in glove. Oh I tested the music and with 16 cores recording is sounding good out of the box, but with AI I am going to do a little memory timing tuning to enhance the latency response time, which I have never done before.

Worth it for my workflow.
It was time to build a new PC. Until I saw the prices of DDR5 (and DDR4) RAM. And what the hell is the deal with storage prices too? Oof! Instead of a new computer, I decided to just upgrade my AM4 motherboard with this beast! But then ended up just building it out from all new parts. I know it's end of life technically, but with this, I feel good about at least another 3-5 years... Hopefully RAMaggeden will have ended with the bursting of the AI bubble by then. In my retirement, I process raw drone photos and videos, raw astronomy and astrophotography data, 3d modeling and printing, and of course, I do gaming too, including PC VR games. These hobbies can be hard on the wallet, but also very taxing on CPU's and GPU's. This CPU is seriously up to the task but only with a motherboard that is compatible with the high power needs of the CPU (125 watts). Both plugs on the top left of the board should be plugged in. IYKYK, if you don't know what I mean, please look it up before you buy this. Its 16 cores and 32 threads rip though everything I throw at. Overclocking was easy enough, and done very carefully of course. It's great for photo and video processing and 3d rendering, but in reality it's probably about twice what anyone would need for gaming. I really wish I had bought this, or something similar, way earlier in the AM4 lifecycle. I didn't realize what I was missing out on. At the time I bought this it was cheaper than an AM5 "equivalent", so double check and compare first. For me, in Jan and Feb of 2026, this was the better cost to performance ratio for the work I do with it. For those that are curious, my build is this Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU overclocked up to 5.25MHz (figure your own math), under volted which helps with overclocking and cooling. I worked slowly and carefully to make mine very stable but fast. Remember, this is all at your own risk, and it actually really did run great at stock settings. Because I knew hear can be an issue with big processors like this, I got a 360mm, 3 fan and radiator water-cooled system, and with a total of 13 fans in the case (including the 2 fans over my RAM sticks), this machine has never exceeded 65-68°C on any benchmark tests I've run. Matching 16Gb x 4 sticks (64Gb total) 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, XFX Swift OC 9060XT 16Gb VRAM GPU, Asus ROG Strix B550 motherboard, with a Rosewill 850 Watt+80 Gold PSU (power supply unit) with the higher quality Japanese internals. 1-1Tb m.2 NVME, 1-4Tb m.2 NVME and 1 old school 4Tb SATA HDD for stable cold storage of processed data, photos and videos and lesser used or older games. The sum of all the parts let's me render 3d in minutes, process nebulae and galaxies and drone images flawlessly and quickly. I also have the benefit of gaming most triple a titles and e-sports at 1440p well over 75 fps (lowest) on ultra and high settings, Ray tracing, FSR, all on (no path tracing though, I never like that setting). Cyberpunk, COD, Fortnite, Black Myth, Skyrim, Requiem, Ready or Not, flat and VR versions, etc. I've even dabbled a little in 4K's lower settings. I love this CPU! (Yes, I know, the GPU too.) If this fits your needs, and the price is right, it just might be what you need to extend your computers' usefulness another 3-5 years.

Good upgrade for my AM4 platform, since DDR5 is too expensive.
Nice processor upgrade for me. Brand new in Box, with warranty from AMD. This will handle anything I throw at it for multi-tasking loads. I also Core tuned it for under volt on cores, this takes a while with 32 cores but also gives you a lot higher boost clocks (due to less heat involved), stability, and lower heat when it does decide to boost. Works right out of the box though so it's not a requirement, but if you want more efficiency and higher boost clocks and now how to do it, it's well worth it. This was my upgrade plan since DDR5 is still expensive, I wanted to build a new custom PC bet settled on upgrading my AM4 PC instead. Be sure to check your motherboard website for compatibility and any bios updates prior to installing, I didn't have an issue, but some boards may require a bios update to support this processor. If you just pop it in and power on and get no post, then have to take the CPU back out and put your old one in just do download the bios updates for your specific motherboard you would be wasting time, cleanup and thermal paste by having to do it yet again after you update the bios to accept it.

Worth the price and performance considering other chips in the market
Crazy STRONG powerhouse that I can easily get the most out of when it comes to gaming and rendering. Its compatible with am4 and with the right cooling (since its a warm chip) its a beast. Easy instalation and looks great!

Great upgrade for AM4 systems.
I have an AM4 motherboard that had a Ryzen 7 2700X in it and 32GB of DDR4. With the price DDR5 and other components being crazy, this was the best upgrade path at the moment and within reach financially. I have an Arctic Freeze Duo cooler already, so I didn't need another cooling fan to collect dust, so this was perfect for my situation. I updated my BIOS and the upgrade went very easy and smooth. For someone wanting to extend the life of their AM4 system, this is the ticket.

One of the last DDR4 Ryzens
FAST FAST FAST! It's not a 13900k/14900k/270k/Ryzen 7000 or 9000, but it keeps up. The 16 cores keep up, and it prevents Windows from tanking your performance. It lags just a little behind my 13900k system, but it's hardly noticeable. It doesn't bottleneck my 9070 XT at all. Many benchmarks focus on raw performance in gaming, but any new release is still great on this CPU and new releases probably will be fine for years to come. I have this CPU installed in a B550 PG Riptide motherboard, but there's a lot of different boards that are compatible with it. Also, you can tweak the PBO settings to get 15% or so additional performance. At stock settings, the package power is 142W, and I've gotten the best performance on mine between 185w and 230w. Regarding cooling, I think application of the thermal paste, and mounting pressure matter. I have a Royal Pretor 130 with PTM7950 on the CPU, and it's pretty much overkill since even at 230W the CPU doesn't go beyond 72C and then starts cooling down a little to about 68C. The max safe operating temperature for the CPU is under 84C. At stock clocks, it tops out at only 55 to 60C, and it's even lower if I ramp fans up a bit. So, a smaller heatsink won't hurt it too much, same for slightly worse paste. Liquid cooling is definitely NOT required for this CPU.

Great if you need a lot of threads on the cheap, great for 3d modeling, cad and gaming
Great CPU especially for multi thread productivty programs like 3d modeling and cad, and it still does great in gaming. Got it super cheap compared to its original price and it is a power house and extreme value when you catch it on sale. Still one of the best cpus for heavy multi thread demands unless you're buying the extremely expensive top end ryzen 9 or Intel equivalent. Also you have the advantages of lower prices and increased availability of ddr4 ram And am4 motherboard.

VERY good for parallel work, especially for the price.
I bought my Desktop as a gaming desktop and cheaper out on the CPU in favor of GPU and RAM. I got a Ryzen 3 3100 originally. I upgraded to this when the price dropped to around ~250 (from over 1000 when I first bought my desktop if I remember correctly) when I started getting into computational modeling. The gaming impact is only somewhat notable because GPU handles most of that fine on its own, but the modeling stuff I have been doing has taken a quantum leap in completion time. It’s both faster per worker and I can parallelize tasks across more cores. My only complaint is that it generates a lot of heat and I had to underclock it slightly to compensate, but I also have limited cooling capability given the size of my case. A dual tower fan or liquid cooling should handle it well.

Amazing Processor
Placed order, item came a week earlier then expected and installed with a Noctua D12l and got running the day of delivery. I upgraded from a 3600 so the difference is insane. Render times are about halved and it is definitely something to see all 16 cores put to use. If you are trying to extend the life of an AM4 platform or holding out for AM6, I would definitely recommend upgrading to this chip which will still be a beast for another few years. 9950x 50% faster on average in multicore workloads but factor in the cost of ram and mobo upgrades and I would argue it’s not worth it.

Best price performance for AM4 mothboard, almost no different with my other 5950x PC!
Got it on as a deal, upgrade to my 4750G. This is a business workload CPU with 16 core/ 32 threads. Best for demand programs like video and graphic editing. Very robust on heavy work load. If you are like me have 100+ open tabs on browsers. This CPU is for you. I paired with a twin tower air cooler, I bought from Amazon, even it is a high end CPU. It's Max. temperature is around 70deg, as cool as Joe Cool. But you can always get a AIO water cooler to keep it cooler. Compare to my other 5950x, it is may be 3-5% slower, but won't feel it unless you are running some benchmark software. Get this if you have a weaker CPU on AM4 as an upgrade. Get it if you would like a new build on AM4. 5 out 5, both on price and performance.
