I recently purchased the Glad 20 Gallon Trash Can for my kitchen, and it has been a fantastic addition! The 20-gallon capacity is perfect for my family, handling all our kitchen waste without needing to empty it constantly. Nice upgrade from the raggedy 13 gallon that I replaced with this one.The lid broke so I contacted Glad's customer service through Amazon and they promptly sent a replacement. The 2 customer service reps. that helped me who I spoke to by email were very friendly too!

It works, the stainless steel pedal lifts the lid (yay for a trash can with a working pedal that isn’t falling off!). Stepping on the pedal lifts the lid almost all the way and quickly releases it back down to close when you let go. There are two “rings”/pieces inside the “lip” of the lid (the part that doesn’t get raised when you step on the pedal) that you can lift like wings so that you can put a new trash bag on them easily and then set them back down and the trash bag opens up. No hurting your hands stretching a bag over the lid. Just lift the “wings” to put a new bag on, or to make it easier to take a full bag out. You can manually lift the entire lid (including the “lip” around it) to take a trash bag out more easily. I find that it’s hard to fit a full trash bag through only the lid that lifts with the pedal. I first lift the “wings” to take the bag off them, then lift the entire lid and pull the bag out. It doesn’t have an internal liner like some other cans that you can just pull out with the bag. I don’t think that’s a negative but that may make it slightly harder to clean. Overall it’s a nice trashcan; it seems sturdy and I hope it lasts better and longer than others which gave me issues with putting new bags in and pedals not working and/or falling off. I would say if I had a criticism, it would be that you can't really manually open the part of the lid that lifts when you press the pedal since there isn't a way to grip it to open it. If the pedal failed, that would be a major issue.

Overall acceptable but not my fav by far. On the plus side, it came completely assembled! That's a good thing ☺️. On the negative side... The lid doesn't open enough for me! Which makes it more difficult to insert the empty bags, and I imagine even harder extracting the full ones. And not opening enough it keeps on trying to close on my hands 😔. It should open to more than 90 degrees AND/OR (preferably AND) have some system to allow to temporary lock in the lid in open position WITHOUT having to keep pressing the pedal. Also a negative for me is the bag securing system! Not as easy as looks in the item images and not as secure as I'm used to. Between these 2 negatives, inserting my first bag was not as pleasant or as fast as I'd hoped for with the lid keeping on closing on me while trying to proper fit the bag. Quite comical actually lol.Well, I only took one star out for 2 major negative for me, in the hope that I'll get used to it and won't feel as aggravated by it in the near future 😊. Or maybe I'll find a way to make the lid to STAY open without my foot lol. Guess I'll have to learn trash multitasking 😊

This is a great product! It is roomy and large and opens easily with the foot pedal! It is the very best trash can that I ever had. Just hope it lasts longer than my previous ones!

Larger than expected, sturdy, easy to use, simple design, functions well. I like that it has special handles inside to hold the bag in place. I am happy with this purchase.

I bought two of these....One in black and one in gray. The black unit is perfect with a lid that stays up....grand idea. You'd think both cans would be the same....nope. On this one (gray) the lid will not stay up unless your foot is on the pedal and that's really annoying for frequent use especially if you're older. I can't complain about the unit itself as it looks good and does operate, but really sellers explain to me how a change in color is a change in how these operate. Buy the black....It just works better.
