Not what I expected
Although this item is fine, it is not at all what I was expecting. I was looking for an item that would have a way of slicing butter into tablespoons. I will keep this instead of returning it, as it isn't a high priced item.

Very happy with it after completely removing the problematic blue cutting marks.
Recent purchase. Read reviews before purchasing and decided to purchase despite comments about the butter having a reaction with the blue ink on the cutting marks. I simply used acetone to remove 100 % of the cutting marks and it did not damage the plastic base in any way. Now I have a wonderful airtight butter dish, although without cutting marks, which does not bother me at all because there are raised cutting marks on each side of the lid. I have pressed the stick of butter into the side of the lid resulting in measured cutting marks indented into the stick of butter before setting it down on the butter dish.I especially ecially like the fact that the base the butter rests on is flat as a raised edge makes it harder to slice the butter and harder to remove the slice. I do not have trouble with the butter sliding around on the base, but I am also very careful with it and find pressing down on the stick of butter against the base helps keep the butter in place.I was looking for an airtight butter dish with a flat base and now I have what I wanted. Would give a 5 star rating if it were not necessary to remove the blue markings. Wish they also made one large enough for cream cheese and I would purchase it as well, however I do prefer glass over plastic but could not find an airtight glass one with a flat base anywhere.

Dye inside dish is fat (butter) soluble = DYE IN YOUR BUTTER!! Progressive lost a customer with poor service. What a bummer :((
Well I had read the reviews, so I knew some people had problems with dye in their butter, but I love Progressive products, so I thought I'd take a chance. I washed the dish in the dishwasher before using, no dye changes at all. Loved the dish design. Used it for one stick, no dye issues. Note that we eat butter slowly, so this took 2-3 weeks, and we keep our butter on the counter.BUT THEN, when we finished that stick of butter, I went to wipe the extra butter off to put a new stick on... and the paper towel turned BLUE!! The dye from the printing on the inside of the dish - the measurement lines and the little printing ALL were coming off!Since I loved this butter dish design and don't need the measurements, I thought I'd try to save this dish for our use. I tried scrubbing with a scouring sponge and hot soapy water, but the dye did Not come off. On a whim I put some butter on my finger & rubbed in a circle just with my finger, no hot water or soap - Yup, the dye came off! GROSS!!I spent a day, on & off, trying to rub the rest of the dye off with butter, but it isn't coming off completely, but it continues to steadily come off. The dye is not something you can look past, it is a very strong dye and the thought of eating it is creepy. If I could remove the dye, I would keep the dish, but I can't get it all off unless I work at this for weeks, and who has that time for a cheap butter dish? And if the dye came off in tiny amounts, I might consider sticking with the dish, but no, because it comes off with a lot of color. So, I called Progressive this morning, they actually told me that I was the second person to call them, and that they sell hundreds of thousands of these dishes. I suggested they try rubbing their own dish with butter, and they will see what I mean. They were unconcerned. They have no other newer version to send me. The best I can figure is that the other people who have the dye leaking, had the dishes too long to return, and just threw them out, without calling the company. Luckily I am still within my return period, so I will be returning the dish. It's a bummer because I liked the design of the dish. Yes, it is much taller & wider than you'd expect, and yes, if your butter melts there is no ridge around the sides to keep it from running all over your counter, but I didn't find those to be an issue for us. But all that dye in our food is VERY CONCERNING. And Progressive's customer relations was quite disappointing. They DIDN'T EVEN CARE that their product is a serious health hazard, nor did they care that they were losing a customer. Sadly I will question all their products from now on. and will probably buy other brands like Oxo.I recommend you save yourself the wasted time & money & health issues from feeding your family dye of questionable origin, DO NOT BUY THIS DISH, and find something else that you can use.

Flat Surface on the Base Allow for Neat Butter Pats ... Seals Tight to Keep Butter Tasting Good ...
I purchased the Rubbermaid Standard Butter Dish and was very pleased with it. However, my spouse did not like my choice of butter keepers. The Rubbermaid Standard Butter Dish's base had a ½” high lip surrounding it. Thus, it was impossible to “slice” butter pats thinly or neatly. After making many searches and reading numerous reviews, the "Progressive Butter Keeper with Measure Grid" appeared to be what I needed and the design my spouse wanted. The base is raised above the surrounding ridge and is flat. This allows one to cleanly slice butter pats. The markings are nice-to-haves, but not necessary for my purpose. Both a standard stick and the blockier European-style ¼ lb. sticks of butter fit in the "Progressive Butter Keeper with Measure Grid". A silicon/rubber gasket around the base seals tightly when the lid is on and helps prevent odor absorption and keeps butter tasting like butter. The clear plastic top and the blue base are not as heavy-duty as I would have liked. However, they are rigid enough so that they do not bend or flex. The top and base fit together very securely. This helps prevent other food flavors or odors from contaminating the butter. There is no "tab" on the top cover to make the top and bottom easier to separate. However, removing the top does not require Herculean strength. Both pieces are dishwasher safe on the top shelf; I use the economy/air-dry cycle so there was no warping. The markings do not fade when put through the dishwasher multiple times.

Dimensions non adapté
Le taille du beurrier ne convient pas, une plaquette de beurre classique (que ce soit en 125 ou 250 gr) ne tient pas (le beurrier n'est pas assez largue). 6,98 € en l'air !

Butter Keeper
Product works well in that the like keeps firmly closed. The only thing I would have preferred if it held a full pound of butter but it will only hold a quarter piece.

Measurements inaccurate
Too narrow for a regular block of butter so measurements can't be accurate
