Good addition to a home stereo setup.
Exactly what I needed. If you're not getting the sound you want from your system, get this EQ. Modern receivers only have bass/treble adjustments. That's essentially the same sound-shaping ability of an AM car radio from the 1960's. The essence of most recordings is in the midrange. Less bass + more treble does not equal midrange. This very inexpensive EQ allows for decent boost of the correct frequencies for accurate sound. I run my turntable into a tube preamp then to this EQ and into my Onkyo receiver. The only thing I've noticed is that at higher volume levels, I need to adjust frequency levels. I highly suspect it's my Klipsch speakers that are responsible. Klipsch, like Cerwin Vega, really like to be pushed to Police- call sound levels to sound good. At lower volume levels, this EQ still shines. It can remove most of the brassiness of poor classical, jazz, or Calypso recordings without muddying the bass and mids. This is a great entry-level EQ. If you're new to equalization and want to tweek your listening experience, get it. It's a good EQ for 60 bucks. Frequency attenuation is very good at all levels. Knobs are smooth with no distortion. Takes up very little room. I can't vouch for its ability to "warm up" digital recordings. It would depend on how it's inserted into the chain.

No hum or audible distortion. Does effect change
Good things come to those who wait. After a long journey from China the equalizer finally made it home. The equalizer does make tangible changes in the sound of the amplifier it is hooked to , which is a Yamaha rs202. Not putting the rs202 down, but " barefooted" , which simply means with no equalizer, the rs202, at least my particular one, lacked in the middle to upper frequencies. I knew bass was adequate as is in my case, so only the last 3 nobs are above flat. I already knew I didn't need lower frequency increase. It is obvious the equalizer is a preamp. It uses that preamp to effect changes in the amplifier input. All nobs do increase or decrease tonal quality, and I wanted them to be capable of doing so. As previously stated, only the upper frequency ,last 3 nobs are above flat. I have found what I call " Cyberspace ", or " virtual equalizers in android phones and mp3 apps " weird out " and are inferior to an actual, material equalizer, and that even on a flagship samsung. I have never experienced a " Cyberspace " or " virtual equalizer that actually allows " normal " equalizer tone , frequency response adjustments unless they " like " the equalizer adjustments. If " Cyberspace " and " virtual equalizers don't " like " where someone sets them they are weird out and are more than basically worthless. They are worthless unless they are set to very limited overall settings that the Cyberspace and virtual equalizers like to be set. This tangible, material equalizer made of matter is not like that. It will do what the user wants without weirding out. In other words it is my experience that a material, tangible equalizer is superior to phone and specifically android equalizers in Cyberspace and virtual equalizers that don't exist in the world of matter. In order to effect change by phone streaming requires " hardwiring " by a usb to rca plugs adapter. It will not eq phone streaming by Bluetooth because it's not in the line inputs and outputs to do so. Usb c to rca male patch cords are inexpensive and abundantly available. They work. Concerning this particular equalizer, not only do I not regret this product and purchase, but I am glad I did it. Shipping speed is slow because the product was not in a warehouse in the United States. It shipped individually from China. I finally got it. It has been welcomed home, and initially is functioning correctly. The rs202 Yamaha is not a high end 2 channel amplifier, so it needed an equalizer/ preamp to help it output a sound with more " presence " and treble. This equalizer has caused it to do that. It was worth the wait of getting it from an origin Shipping source in China instead of the United States. It took longer to get it than usual, but it was worth the wait. As previously stated, there is no hum , or any other sound negatives about it. If it adds distortion, it is less than detectable by my good ears. I have good hearing and I don't hear any distortion at all because of the equalizer. What I hear is better presence and treble, which is what I needed. This product is good, and I recommended It based on my particular experience so far. I just got it today. 5 stars. Update August 26, 2025 Just bought another one and it has markedly improved the sound quality of my other main stereo system. It is a preamp, in addition to an equalizer. It has improved presence and clarity, as well as volume. Very pleased. It does change the sound by preamp as well as eq. Might not be for a " sound purist " who doesn't want to alter the sound in the " signal path" but thats exactly what I wanted and it definitely alters the sound, which is exactly what I wanted it to do.It makes it sound better. Thats the idea. I don't care if it alters the signal path when it makes it sound better. Thats the whole idea here in my place. No distortion or hum . Bravo!

Competent Equalizer
Petty complaint but why when most audio equipment is black or silver is this unit painted grey? Not a big deal but aesthetics are part of audio appreciation. As for the unit itself it is quite different from other equalizers I have had and a current equalizer I continue to use. The controls shape the sound differently but the result is clean and quite pleasant revealing a detail and clarity which is different than the one I have been using. I would agree the unit is more subtle but I like the difference and that subtlety is a refinement. It is well done and a real value in my opinion. You don't have to spend a lot to get quality audio. I would add this to the list as an addition in that direction.

Great value and well-built and good sounding EQ
This item is a semi-parametric equalizer and is surprisingly good! The price is right (around $56 USD) and the unit is NOT plastic but a well built small box that fits anywhere in the system. I have it installed on a Denon aux output into the main stereo buss and it sounds great! No quality interference and enough amplification boost to push it over the top. The EQ is fairly accurate and well balanced the signal or in this case, the room acoustics. I would definitely buy a few to inexpensively upgrade smaller systems. You won't break disappointed.

Noisy and ineffective
I guess if you really don’t need high Fidelity, then maybe this would work for you, but the knobs are kinda hard to use and the sound quality is just really bad and the effect that it has not that pronounced. I ended up going with a software EQ, which is not introducing nearly as much noise to my signal chain, AND it’s cheaper.

lacking performance
I had to send the first one back as my first impression was awe, very clever, high quality and well constructed. But upon hook up, was not too impressed by the total performance. Most EQ's offer 6db's (+ or-) per spectrum. On the the 60hz knob, I cannot tell a difference, the 120hz is when it starts to work; I'm guessing + or - 3db is all it does from 120hz to 6khz, has no effect on the 16khz knob. when I got the replacement, it was only slightly better. no patch cords included. I need more of a performance. Very well built, has a balance control (?) but not a level control which is greatly missed. Has the AC adaptor. This EQ comes up lacking. Behringer's is WAY better. THE FIRST ONE THAT I RECEIVED COLORED THE SOUND TERRIBLY, AND IT WAS VERY CHAOTIC. THE SECOND ONE I RECEIVED AFTER RETURNING THE FIRST ONE, THINKING THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT HAPPENS, NOW I DISCOVER THAT THE 20 HZ KNOB DOES NOTHING. THE EXTREME HIGH FREQUENCY KNOB DOES NOTHING. That means that maybe this is just a five band graphic equalizer, and a very poor one at that. I'm returning this for a full refund. My advice is steer clear of this particular item.

How important is an EQ?
In my opinion VERY! This little equalizer brought my already great sounding sound system to new heights. This is the first product I have purchased from Nobsound and I am just blown away by it's performance at this price point. The only thing I'm left wishing for is some kind of lighting on the knobs or maybe some spec analyzer display.. When I first received this unit, I was surprised and slightly worried about its size. But its not a problem at all.. The knob do feel a bit cheap but I haven't had any problems what so ever. If you want a great sounding EQ then this is for you.. at $50 what have you got to lose? Just get it already! Pros: Sounds great small footprint keeps all gear neater 2 RCA in and 2 out Excellent price Cons: needs some lighting on the dials Cheapo power adapter The EQ9 is the one for you!

Amazing!
Wow this tiny EQ completely enhanced my two cabinet speakers audio quality. I have these connected to a crown xli2500. The original source is a yamaha 7.1 receiver then to the crown. I was using the yamaha built in EQ and thought it sounded good. Bought this EQ to see if I could hear a difference. So, it's been 3 days with this small EQ and I can say it made a big difference. The biggest difference is in the bass output. My goodness I have bass coming from the cabinets that I couldn't hear before. All in all I love this EQ.

Big bang for the buck!
I am speechless... I finally have the sound I've been looking for. DEEP clean bass, crisp highs. Wow... what an incredible difference for my stereo! I totally don't understand the negative reviews people have left. This thing ROCKS!!! So glad I bought it.
