Chapin 98142: 40-Gallon Water Storage Tank, Utility Water Tank, Water Supply, for Farms, Acreage, Gardens, Orchards, Translucent White

I have this setup for water transport to and from our coops. I can get a little more that the stated 15 gallons, so it has made my life much easier. It's not too heavy for the 4-wheeler when filled with water and it fits perfectly on the rear rack. I purchased a cutoff valve and a potable water hose for it as well. No leaks at this point and it seems to be of good quality.I did have to wash it out several times in order to remove plastic pieces from the manufacturing process, but I always wash my tanks with soap before use anyway. Very fair price when compared to the local feed store products of the same size. Let's see how well it holds up to heavy use and it is protected from the elements when not in use.

This was a great price for a little water tank for me on my property. I also had a problem at first with it leaking at the seal. What o figured out is you must remove the plug, set the rubber gasket and cap then screw they all on super tight. Then add your plug or the recommended attachment with shut off and get that on super tight as well. It took me a couple of tries with just a little water to make sure I had a good seal. I’ve since filled the tank several times and not had an issue with any leaks. Hope this helps others

High quality heavy duty plastic that is perfect for gardening in our lot and extra water for RV trips. It comes with a spout cap but needs a shut off valve to be practical unless you plan to drain all the water at once.

I give it 4 stars not because it is a bad product but because of the shape of the item. If you have a car like my Kia Soul, it would be difficult to put it in a place.

Bought this to carry water in my UTV to water plantings that we can't reach with a hose. Tank itself fits well in my UTV and seems adequately sturdy, but is hard to strap securely to the bed (curved sides without mounting points or good recesses to hold straps). But the huge FAIL is that the plastic fittings for the drain outlet are really cheap and inadequate. As other reviewers have noted, the fittings as provided WILL leak, so you need to put in extra effort and supplies (washer/o-ring, caulk/joint paste, glue) to stop the leak. The bigger issue is that the 3/4" hose fitting is poorly designed and too weak to attach a hose to. Mine sheared off the first time I used it! I would have returned it but it's so oversized that would be a huge hassle. Instead I've had to buy additional fittings to close off the original drain and install a higher quality bulkhead fitting and tap elsewhere on the tank. So, extra cost and time to make the tank useful. Fingers crossed that the tank will last long enough to justify the effort. I would not buy this again and am unlikely to buy anything else from Chapin.

Excellent 40-gallon tank. After reading reviews about leaks at the drain and plastic particles from the manufacturing process, I first used a flat file to smooth the surface on the tank where the drain cap screws on. Secondly, I completely rinsed the tank. Finally, I went to Ace Hardware and bought a variety pack that contained two 2-inch O-rings; the same diameter, but slightly thicker (item number 43607) for $3.67. Then I installed a 3/4" Brass Garden Hose Shut Off Valve (same threads that fit the drain cap). Put everything together and filled the tank above the drain to check for leaks. No leaks! I have been using this tank constantly for fresh potable water at my off-grid place for over a month with no problems. Will likely buy another tank to transport the water from the water source to my off-grid place.

This storage tank is perfect for hauling 30 gallons of water. The only thing that could be improved in is that there is not a cutoff valve on the discharge. But that is readily fixed by buying one at a hardware store.

Water tank works and holds water. Unfortunately water will leak from the top and bottom caps. Was able to make a permanent seal with glue.
