The best series for your 5-8 year olds. Broadens their horizons like anything and so enjoyable. My 7 year old has had a great time and can easily read them on her own. Learnt about the Amazon, Ninjas, the moon and the Sabertooth.

This is another series my 7 year old enjoys. He read a book from the library and enjoyed the magical theme so much that everyone was to to get different books from the series as birthday gifts. So we now have books 1-16! Each book introduces the children to different topics. Not in any detail but still gives them a brief glimpse into worlds from ancient Egypt, Japan and cowboys to various animals. The language is age appropriate and the books easy to read.

So we are reading a couple of series ...and we like Jackie and Annie the most...my son 6 years and I , both enjoy their adventures immensely

I remember reading this series when I was a kid and thought it would be fun to read to my boys (6 and 4). Now that my oldest is in kindergarten, we've been doing reading logs and this seemed like the easiest and most fun way to get my kids to love reading. I've never read any chapter books to them yet so this was a first for us. And I was SHOCKED at how well they sat and listened and wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next. It also helps it's all the things they love like dinosaurs, knights and pirates. It's been fun for me too to read to them and connect with them. I didn't enjoy reading as a kid but I hope to teach my kids to love reading.

I bought this as a gift for a neighbours little girl and she absolutely loves the set. The Magic Tree House is a great read for grade 3 students as well as proficient younger readers as it combines history and fact with adventure and a touch of magic. These books are great for reluctant readers and are a good introduction to chapter books as they are short easy reads. Not just a good read but also a learning tool.

The stories are patronisingly simplistic and badly written, my 5 year old paid attention while I read to him but won't be asking me to repeat the stories which for me is always a nd sign.
