Yes. It is a standard MIDI keyboard. I use it with Finale and Garage Band.

do you need an external speakers for sound output?

Of course. This is a USB keyboard, which generally works with laptops/desktops. If you're going to be writing digital music, it is expected that you have headphones or speakers to work with already for your laptop/desktop.

Is this compatible with fl studios?

Yes. It's compatible with all major DAWs

I need a small keyboard for travel. I love Korg but my concern is the key size. Are the keys on the micro 25 close to real size?

Thank you for your question, Joe. I don't have a piano but I have a harpsichord so I measured the Korg keys against the harpsichord. The harpsichord keys are 3/4" wide and the Korg keys are 1/2" wide. I hope this helps answer your question. Lee Clark, Fern River Books

Worth buying this keyboard made by KORG.

Its my first midi keyboard ever and I'm not much of a keyboardist I am a guitarist and a percussionist and make music using my iPad mini with ios 9.2.1 I guess and was looking for a compatible keyboard desperately and after doing all the survey on net and asking my musician friends I decided to take a chance with this trusted brand and trust me its Worth buying it. I usually don't prefer buying instruments online because I personally wish to see and test it first before buying...but thanks to amazon guys who delivered it before time and in a perfect condition too. Those who are looking for more features in less money may find many other options too.but trust me they won't give you such quality.

The best portable 25 key midi controller

It is bigger than what it looks like on the photo. The white keys are almost as wide as the regular keyboard keys and the black ones ofcourse are small. The keyboard is hence longer that what I expected it to be. The sustain button and the XY Joystick are very useful along with the octave buttons. It would have been better if Korg had included this panel in the 37 key and 61 key variant of this product.

It really feels bad that I have totally watsed my money on this

After working for just one year some of the keys have simply died, no sound comes out when pressing them.. I thought that this brand will deliver, but nope. It really feels bad that I have totally watsed my money on this. Would not recommend anyone to buy it.
