It makes growing sprouts very easy.
I was going to rate 4 stars because when I received this it was around $30. I'm on the vine review program so I only have to pay tax, about $10 on a $30 item, but I consider that others have to pay in full. Now this item is about $20, which is a decent value, 5 stars.Pros: the screen lets you easily rinse and drain your seeds, which you'll typically do daily while your sprouts are growing. Much less messy and easier than my old method of using a mason jar with some cheesecloth strapped to the jar with an elastic band.Neutral: the plastic mesh serves no real purpose other than draining the water. The description says you can grow seeds on top of the mesh, too, but that seems like a non-starter with the lid and the trouble of harvesting the sprouts that would be stuck in a screen.Con: the lid wobbles when the mesh is inside the bowl, see pic 2. It keeps the lid about 2mm above the rim of the bowl. That means you need to keep the mesh to the side while the sprouts grow, or accept a gap between the bowl and the lid. This can let in gnats and fruit flies. If the lid was routed/shaved where the tabs on the mesh extend, this problem would be solved. Seems unfinished. Maybe it's by design to allow in fresh air, but I don't like the wobble, especially since these are stackable per the product description. I just keep the mesh disc on my dish drainer while the sprouts grow, no huge deal. All told, with the lower price and the ease of growing sprouts, this is a good product. Pic 1 shows some mung bean sprouts that I grew in about 5 days, then I simply popped the bowl and the sprouts in the fridge. Nice and easy.

Useful for sprout growing/storage, pretty bowl with bamboo lid, and strainer screen
I did not feel the instructions clarified it is intended to grow sprouts on top of the screen. I saw a photo in reviews, and it seems that with the proper use of the screen for growing upon, that could work great. When done, could be stored in the fridge without overly drying out.I like this bowl. It has a lovely shape to it that is unique and the bamboo wood keeps the materials all natural. So often we have plastic lids, the bamboo lid is very nice!As for using it for sprout growing, I find it a bit small, and I think I prefer larger clear glass jars with stainless screens.I do think it's perfect to grow and store sprouts grown in it when completed as well and can take a healthy place in sprout growing in the household, as I don't particularly like storing grown sprouts in the glass jars I grow them in. Thus, I intend to use this pretty bowl as part of sprout making combining a few items. It could work just fine, solo, just grow them on the provided screen and allow to drip water into the bowl, be sure to empty and rinse it as well while growing!

No sprouts so far
I was excited to try this but so far I haven't been able to successfully grow any sprouts. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It is cute on the counter and the instructions are pretty straightforward, so I will keep trying.

Beautiful Shallow White Bowl with a Bamboo Lid and Plastic Screen if you Wish to Germinate Greens
I don't use this for germination but it should work easily with the plastic screen that fits into the top to hold the seeds. I use it for a refrigerator storage dish for mango chunks or pineapple or other fruit or vegetable being kept for a snack later. It's about the amount of a standard cereal bowl and could be used for that, but the bamboo lid provides protection when placing it in the fridge to keep fruit fresh for a day or two. It's a very pretty small bowl by itself.

good for small batches
This sprouting kit is adorable. The stackable design with the bamboo lid adds a nice minimalist touch that looks great on the countertop. While the instructions could be a bit clearer, I'm glad I had some basic knowledge about growing plants beforehand. It's important to note that this kit isn't designed for large-scale growing, but it's perfect for producing a small amount of fresh sprouts. I’ve already had success growing broccoli sprouts, which have been a delicious addition to my sandwiches and salads. I'm excited to experiment with different types of sprouts soon.

Unique
I've had my eye on some plastic containers at the garden center that are made for growing sprouts. Then I saw this product which is definitely much nicer looking. The product is a simple ceramic bowl with a bamboo lid (it just sits over the bowl) and the key is the plastic net/mesh-type divider that sits over the bowl. You use it to strain the water from the bowl while growing the sprouts and it also works for the sprouts to grow through. Very simple and minimalist, yet attractive and functional. I'm happy with the product and am eagerly waiting for my seeds to sprout.

I'm disappointed
I had high-hopes for this sprouting kit, but I'm simply confused. The kit comes with a lovely bowl (which is why I picked this up), a bamboo lid and a seed strainer. No instructions. The seed strainer has 2 little lips that sit on the edge of the bowl, but if you press it down, it will slip into the bowl. With the strainer up, the lid does not sit tight on the bowl, it will only sit tight if you press it down. So even though it looks so pretty, I'm not at all sure how to start. A simple instruction sheet would certainly help.
