Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Prelude Paperback – 18 April 2017

This is not a what happened between film one and film two. This is a sample of the Guardians comic books. We have the first film, the thirtyfirst century Guardians and the present day Guardians. I enjoyed th last story most as it was the most relevant with the characters we already know.

I'm a Marvel fan and a huge fan of the MCU. I even read all the prelude comics. So, naturally, I pre-ordered this back in October. Imagine my excitement when it arrived today.But imagine my disappointment when I actually read it and realized IT CONTAINS NO NEW CONTENT. There's no actual "prelude" story leading into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 like there was for Doctor Strange, Civil War, and every other MCU film since Avengers (at least!)Instead, there was a two-part comic book adaptation of the first GotG film and three non-MCU comic reprints: an old story involving Mantis, an old story involving Yondu, and a fairly recent story about the Guardians and Avengers teaming up--this last one is literally only a couple of years old (it takes place just before 2015's "Black Vortex" event.)

There is NO prelude comic, no original material, nothing new. All you get is a comic adaptation of the first GotG movie and a handful of Marvel reprints which have nothing to do with either film. In fact, two of the reprints are of the original Guardians of the Galaxy which are a completely different set of characters all-together set 1000 years later. This was a total rip-off. I will be canceling my other MCU prelude pre-orders and will simply wait to see if they are also devoid of anything new before purchasing. I'm very upset at Marvel for this shameless and deceitful cash-grab.

Similar to the "Thor: Ragnarok" prelude, this prelude basically re-tells the first movie in comic book form. Fairly disappointed, would've appreciated more stories filling the gaps in between films. Again, product description should be clearer about this.

There is no new content to be found here, and no "Prelude" to the events of GotG Vol 2. All this contains is a horribly drawn adaptation of the first movie, and some older Guardians comics. This is not why I bought this, and I am promptly returning it.
