Love the Bobbins, Hate the Nubs!
These Darice bobbins are most likely seconds. They are thinner than the Darice bobbins you buy in packages of 27-28 in a bricks and mortar store. Also, they all have the plastic machining nubs on each corner on one side, and an additional spike on the other side. I have had to painstakingly shave each of these little pieces off with my exacto knife - on all 1,000 of them! If I left the little bits of plastic on the bobbin, it snags my yarn/thread. So off they come! Also, there was machine grease on about 35 of them. I haven't cleaned them up yet; I'm not sure it's worth it.The good: They are so much sturdier than the cardboard ones, and since they are thinner than the normal ones, they take up less room in my storage container. I like the price, I just wish I had known ahead of time that they would also be labor intensive. So now you know.I'm using my bobbins to wrap yarn samples around for each of the types and colors of yarn I have. This helps when trying to choose colors for a new crochet design. They are tactile, colorful, and all the yarn options I have are in front of me in a little drawer. (I store my bobbins in a set of clear acrylic drawers designed for makeup. The drawers can be taken out of the cabinet so they are easier to cart around as I do my planning.) The embroidery bobbins work wonderfully for this purpose. I have even been able to put some of my 6+ super bulky weight yarn on them. It doesn't require many wraps around the bobbin, but is still works and that makes me happy. You can see one of the 6+ yarn samples in one of the pics in the upper left hand corner. In the same picture you see yarn weights from 6+ to 3 (super bulky to DK). I will definitely buy these again (my daughter and a couple of friends now clammer for bobbin yarn samples), I just wish there was a way to buy them without the nubs.

Thinner than average but still worth it
Ok, so the bad points first:- They're think and not the thicker plastic bobbins usually found.- They sometimes have flash (the plastic remnants around the bobbin that didn't get cut off during fabrication) which is a little annoying. If you can handle that then I don't think you'd have a problem. For the price and amount it's VERY much worth it. I just started embroidering and needed something budget yet effective to organize and keep my floss safe. Thicker bobbins were 5 times the price for a large set like this and I didn't mind risking the thinness issue. Glad I didn't because it's really not a problem. Some of them did come bent/curved from the tight bundling bands but once the skein was wrapped on it quickly straightened out.I'm VERY limited in choices in my town when it comes to craft supply, the only package I could find was 25 from a name brand for $5.99. For $15-$20 per 1000 how could I say no? I bought another set already.

Good for wrapping floss.
These are easy to use and way cheaper buying them in bulk. However, the slits for the thread to start and finish are WAY TO BIG. The thread can go in it, but it doesn’t want to stay. If you keep it in boxes like me, it will work ok (but it’s still annoying). I bought this large pack bc I organized my thread and bought all DMC colors. If you keep you thread on bobbins and on a ring, these will not work for you as the thread will just unravel and come off. On small projects with few colors I sometimes just throw them into a project bag. But they always come undone.

I decided that I need to find a more affordable option and I was glad to find this 1000 pack from Darice and I ...
I noticed that every few projects I was buying more and more expensive plastic bobbins. I decided that I need to find a more affordable option and I was glad to find this 1000 pack from Darice and I am very satisfied with it. They came in a large plastic bag, with about 20 bobbins in a rubber band each. Almost all of them are pristine and perfectly shaped, a very few have what looks to be a nip out of the corner of the top. It does not affect their use nor purpose and doesn't bother me in the least. What was interesting is in the bottom of the bag there were even a few DMC original brand in the original packing in the bottom. Either way, they all work the same. It will take a long while for me to go through all these, but as I'm kitting up my DMC floss for a set and then some duplicates per higher demand shades and colors I'm very satisfied to not have to go buy more each time I run out. I'm very happy with this purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other cross stitchers while bobbinating their floss. You can see mine in my images in my Flosstube videos as well via Creative Madness Mama.

Inexpensive But Not Fabulous Quality
Considering I was paying $1 per 25 of these plastic bobbins at the craft store, getting 1000 for this price was super, super worth it. That said, they are thinner and slightly more bendy. The plastic is a little more translucent (which is a quality of the plastic's composition, not because they're -that- much thinner. Just that some plastics are more translucent than others.)About 1 in 30 or so have that kinda weird thin plastic issue in the indents, but it's paper-thin and easily pushed through (and sorta holds the thread a little more securely, so it's not a total issue in my opinion.)None of mine have sharp edges - something I couldn't say for the 50 or so I got from the craft store. I feel like these are a really great purchase for those of us who perhaps have collected a freakishly large horde of thread :PA side note: I was keeping my thread on clothespins out of fears these bobbins would be so thin they'd make annoying creases in the fabric. I've since learned clothespins make four of those creases compared to the two that this style of bobbin creates. Plus, these take up less than half the space of a clothespin, so all around making this change has been great!

Glad I Bought These
These ARE cardboard (thin) not plastic, but certainly not paper. If you have / had loads of floss to bobbinate like I did, these are a good deal. I am happy with them because you can easily write on them, and they are sturdy enough to do the job. If you break one, you have 1000 to work with! I'm glad I bought these. An excellent buy, and so much cheaper than the plastic or the brand name ones.

Perfect does exactly what it's supposed to do
Perfect does exactly what it's supposed to do! Good quality plastic, not too thick, no sharp bits on the edges, and the slots for keeping the end of the thread in are just the right width (some I've bought in the past were too large that the thread would slip straight out!)

Great value
These bobbins are such great value for money. In total there are 1000 plastic bobbins, there strong and so much better than the cardboard ones. Delivery was quick from America. I was so pleased with them, I have just purchased another set.
