Rugged Multiport Serial Adapter with Win 7 drivers
Great adapter, very rugged, saves USB ports on your machine. Only oddity is that the Windows 7 64-bit driver numbers the ports a little weirdly. On my machine, the ports are COM20 through COM27. The correspondence between COM and unit labelling is: COM20 is 2, COM21 is 1, COM22 is 4, COM23 is 3, etc. I have used up to six of the eight ports and have had no reliability issues or disconnects for hours at a time. Drives 50 foot serial cables with no problems. I do use an external power supply most of the time, but don't think I really need it.

Excellent multi serial port device
Had a bit of trouble matching COM ports to physical ports. After the first device the remaining devices worked great!

Works Well, Most of the Time
Good solid product but under Win7, it will periodically disconnect and reconnect, using the next group of comm ports. This can get real annoying if you are running apps that are expecting a specific comm port and suddenly it changes. Sometimes you can disconnect it, wait a bit, reconnect it and it will go back to the original/correct comm ports. It that doesn't work, you need a reboot. When not being crazy, it works very well.

Still working on Windows 11
I had been using this with Windows 10 when some how.....I was updated to Windows 11. My experience has been that when these updates occur, I lose some driver. That didn't happen. Port assignments in Device Manager are stable.

Worked Perfectly for me!
Used it as console ports for multiple Cisco devices. Worked exactly as I needed it to. Ended up buying three of them. Now I can remote into a Windows 2012 server and connect to 24 different Cisco Console ports.

Flaky
I bought two of these recently, and they are flaky to say the least. I connect one of the hubs to a PC that runs Windows Server 2012 OS. It automatically installs driver and new COM ports showed up in device manager as expected. I restarted the PC just to be sure, then I start to connect my devices to the hub, and then the unpleasant experience began. The first issue is there is no clear indication how the port on the hub maps to the COM port in device manager. I tried to connect to each port and see if there is any output from Putty serial connection console. None of them showed anything. I replaced the cable, and it didn't solve the problem. I downloaded latest driver from StarTech.com and manually upgraded again (and restarted my PC), and it didn't make any difference. I tried to use other COM ports listed in device manager, then reconnect my device to the ports on the hub one by one, then I found some of the COM port seems to work. However the communication could stop after a while. Or it wouldn't resume after I power cycled my device. At the end I wasted a lot of time and didn't get anything useful out of it.

Guter HUB
Funktioniert einwandfrei. Portkennzeichnung stimmt mit -belegung überein. Der horizontale Abstand zwischen den RS-232 Schnittstellen könnte 1-2 mm größer sein, damit auch Kabel mit guter Schirmung nebeneinander Platz haben

good and reliable
We have been using it to mass install the firmware in our circuit boards. It happened that one of our cable broke and shorted the RTS,CTS and some data outputs to GND for quite a few hours and it did not cause any damage to this RS232 adapter. This thing is bulletproof.

Fonctionne bien mais...
Je suis très satisfait, je m'en sert souvent pour le travail et ça fonctionne bien mais je trouve ça TRES dommage que vu le prix la prise secteur ne soit pas incluse...

Solid performer, well build, just what we needed
This does exactly what it's supposed to. After installing the drivers i had 8 new com ports all working in parallel. You do have to work out which com device maps to which physical port but that's straightforward and a windows 'feature' rather than a failing of the device itself. I'm using it powered only by the USB connection and have had no issues, recommended.
