Keep one on hand, always
Laphroaig is often considered the “Marmite” of Islay whisky. Love it or hate it! This expression is a good entry level for the brand. It is sweeter and less peaty than the 10 year old and others. I always have a bottle on hand and at this price I recommend to all.

Exquisite!
The Peat and Whisky Gods smiled upon you the day this recipe/batch was created. Please do not ever change what makes this special - I now prefer it over Single malts at many times the price (including your own) - for some reason, on the rare occasion that another single malt is in my glass, I find myself missing this one.....I guess that's a recommendation if ever I heard one. Thank you!

Where are you in your whisk(e)y journey?
Wow, I can’t give this five stars because there are better whisk(e)ys, at this price point though, this is excellent. So it depends on where you are in the whiskey journey, if brand new then it’s going to be a learning curve with some unique flavours and if you are well experienced then it might not be peaty enough. If it’s your first introduction to Islay whiskies and you are ready for it, then go for it. It’s got the briney, Smokey, iodide type funk, but not enough that it’s off putting. Go for it. If you are wanting to register with the Friends of Laphroig then be careful. They have stopped accept the codes and I simply cannot find the option to upload a receipt so have emailed them. I’m awaiting a response and if it pans out ok, I will update.

Lovely, smoky and peaty without being heavy on phenols
Lovely Islay malt at a bargain price. The ten year old is a bit of a thug in comparison. This has a more subtle range of flavours typical of peaty, smoky Islay malts, which makes it a great every day nightcap.
