Uneven distribution, even after a dozen dispenses.
This review is going to be pretty lengthy as there are no other reviews available on this product as of writing this review 08/12/2024 and I want potential buyers and existing buyers to know what others are experiencing. This is the "budget" option for dual pet food dispensing but I still expected it to perform the minimum of somewhat evenly dispensing kibble within the size specifications, spoiler: it doesn't. When I first received the Pet Libro Granary Smart Feeder Dual Bowl I cleaned the non-electronic internals with tap water per the instructions, then waited 12 hours for the parts to dry. Once fully dry I assembled the Granary per the instructions and did a few test dispenses to prime the product to dispense evenly. According to the instruction document the first 6 or so dispenses will be uneven as the Granary is filling the hopper. I ran 12 of these dispenses before I started recording. For dispense 13 and onwards I started recording, you can view the results in the video attached. The results in the video speak for themselves but I'll spell it out below. Uneven dispenses over and over. The hopper was 1/3rd full during this entire duration. I have two cats and I'm wanted to training them on eating from the dispenser in preparation for a vacation, but with results like this I do not think I can trust this product with making sure my cats are as close to evenly fed as possible. I think it may stem from a design flaw, the internal serving hopper rotates slowly and while it rotates the food dispenses from the right first, then once fully rotated the flow starts to hit the left side of the opening. If the hopper rotated a bit faster maybe it would be more even? Or maybe if the minimum serving size was larger it would dispense more evenly as the hopper has more time to fully rotate? But at the current specifications all of the kibble has exited the right side before the hopper has rotated enough to evenly distribute kibble. I'm one of the first users to buy this so I'm inherently taking a gamble on the product, seeing the reviews for the other Petlibro products I felt like this one might perform as well as their single bowl dispenser but that looks to not be the case. 1 star, that is the minimum I can give this product because it does not perform the main task I paid a little extra for, vs buying two single dispenser, which is dispense as evenly as possible. The app is fine for scheduling, however I don't see a purpose in the premium features if I have the dual dispensing Granary since cats aren't visual tracked. I'm not in the ecosystem enough to take advantage of the premium features. The app does notify you if the product goes offline and was notifying me when the hopper was empty so that's working as expected but no extra stars for this most basic function. The product arrived factory sealed and never used, but I was disappointed at the internal plastic pieces having deep scratch marks in some areas. It felt sort of rushed.

Easy to use
Great for our two cats, they share the bowls and have no problems. It’s easy to set the timer schedule and a budget friendly option if you work throughout the day and need to feed the kitties.

Works and looks great, easy to use but skip if the voice recording feature is important to you
TL;DR: Works and looks great with the exception of the recorded message feature. I bought this autofeeder for my cat out of desperation. She meows incessantly for 45 minutes or more before meal times which annoys my dog into shriek howling with every meow and causes me to contemplate double murder. I've only had this feeder for a couple days but so far it is working great! My cat is still learning that she must appeal to her new machine overlord for food, but she is already much better than she was. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I will update my review if anything changes. PROS: - Easy set-up. It takes a few minutes but unless you're changing the schedule all the time for some reason, it's really not terrible. Some reviews claim you have to cycle through every time and portion to change something but that's not true. You can use the "+" and "-" buttons to navigate to the meal slot you want to change without starting from the beginning. Unused slots will have a time but if you set the portion to zero they will not dispense anything. This is probably obvious but it did confuse me for a second. I set mine to have 4 meals spaced 6 hours apart and it's been working like a charm. - No jamming problems even with larger kibble so far. The cat food I buy has larger chunks interspersed in with smaller kibble and I was worried that it might jam up the dispenser. So far it has been working just fine. It has a helpful sticker on the lid that shows you the largest kibble size it will accommodate and it seems to be accurate. I bought the 5L version which holds 4-5 lbs of food. - My devious cat has yet to figure out how to get extra kibble from it. The panel auto-locks so she can't press any buttons. I've seen her stick her paw up the chute to dig around but she hasn't succeeded in any extra snacks yet as far as I can tell. It's only been a few days so time will tell if she will use her demon powers to beat the machine. I would suggest either putting this feeder on the floor or securing it in place because I suspect that my cat would be able to push it off a table and/or knock it over of it was empty enough. The weight D batteries alone might make it relatively stable to tipping though. I have not actually seen her move it yet but I remain wary because she is a larger cat at 14 lbs and generally a menace to society*. - It seems well-made and is very sleek and modern looking. Appearance is less important than function to me but it does look quite nice. - I like that there is a battery meter display even when plugged in. I intend to have it plugged in all the time but it will be nice to know when the back-up batteries need to be replaced. - After completing set-up, I decided to move the feeder and had not installed batteries in it yet. I was expecting to reset at least the time but was pleasantly surprised to see it did not reset at all. It was unplugged for all of 10 seconds so I can't attest to how long it can go without power or batteries before resetting the time. - A customer service rep from PETLIBRO messaged me before my product arrived with some helpful tips and reminder that they have customer service available 24 hours on week days if I need it and a 12 month warranty. I have not had a need to contact customer service but I thought the pro-active message was nice. CONS: - It is not clear from anywhere in the instructions what constitutes a portion. From my measurements, it seems that one portion is equivalent to approximately 1/8 cup. I am happy with this portion size but I wish it had been clear without requiring experimentation on my part. - In my opinion, the only truly poor feature about this product is the recorded message option (whether you intend to use it or not). Other reviews mention that the recording quality is very poor and I have to agree. It is very staticy and mine also makes a rhythmic rasping noise even when recording silence. I had no intention of using this feature anyway as the sound of a pin drop would probably send her scrambling from across the house if it meant food. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to delete or turn off the recording without resetting the whole machine. I hit the record button by mistake during set-up, which is very easy to do, and I didn't want to start over. I "bypassed" it by hitting the record button quick succession to create as short of a recording as I possibly could. The quick blip of static when it dispenses food doesn't bother me but it is annoying you can't just turn this feature off all together. This is by no means a deal breaker to me but if having a nice recorded message is important to you, I would not recommend this feeder. - Not exactly a con but I prefer a shallow dish for feeding my cat. The bowl that comes with the feeder is deep but it is a nice bowl and I like that it has a tray that attaches to the feeder to keep it from being kicked around. Luckily her old shallow bowl fits nicely within the provided bowl and I haven't noticed any issues with spilling while doing this. Not a big deal but something to consider if it matters to you. *I promise that I actually love my cat very much! 😂 Picture attached. She's the best cat in the world... when she's not hungry.

Nice features but too inaccurate to use
Unfortunately we are returning this product. We already have 2 PetLibro water fountains and the smaller 'Air' feeder. They have done their job the 5 months we've had them and our cats like them. The one drawback for the Air feeder is its size - with 2 cats I have to refill it ever 3-5 days. Otherwise it works well. Some reviews were concerned it didn't dispense accurately but I measured several times and it always provided an amount within about 10% of expected - close enough. So I ignored the reviews that said to be careful of this same problem with the Granary. I thought the larger capacity of the Granary meant I'd be able to go 1-2 weeks between refills given it was 2.5x the capacity. My wife also liked the idea of the camera feature so she could see if the cats were eating equally or if just one was using it more. When I set up the Granary it looked like the same mechanism as the Air, but it doesn't work the same way or nearly as well. For some reason it takes a looong time to dispense. Doing the testing during setup took 5 minutes to get it running but over an hour to test how well it put out food because dispensing even just 4x portions took forever (what was supposed to be 1/3rd of a cup). For some reason it pauses between each portion (portion, pause, portion, pause...) and each portion takes almost as long as several portions from the Air. It also makes a lot more noise than the Air, on top of the food hitting the bowl - it sounds like it is straining to dispense the food. I could live with slow dispensing, it was the wildly inaccurate dispense amount that was the deal breaker. The other reviews are right. I tried dispensing in cups, grams, and oz (all 3 possible units). It *never* dispensed more than half as much as it was told. If it always dispensed half I could adjust and just double the scheduled servings. However it wasn't just wrong, it was also wildly inconsistent - dispensing between 20% and 50% of the directed amount with no pattern to the ratio. These aren't guessed values - I recorded the requested amount and then used a measuring cup or scale to measure the result, testing multiple times with different portion counts. There is no way to compensate for that much variability. I followed the troubleshooting and definitely put out way more then the 'it will be inaccurate for the first 6 servings'. The kibble I use (purina pro plan kitten) is within their size recommendation (they have a handy 'no bigger than this' sticker on the machine). Nothing improved the inaccurate and inconsistent serving sizes. Maybe my particular kibble is just too close to being the wrong size or shape despite fitting in their recommended circle. Back to using the smaller Air feeder.

The feeding should starts ftkm 1/3 or 1/4 not 1 cup
I can program it manually without having to struggle with connecting it to my phone. It’s actually quite straightforward. Unfortunately, the smallest feeding portion starts at 1 cup. No matter what time I program it, the cats eat nonstop and end up vomiting everywhere. The compartments also aren’t divided properly, as each side dispenses a full 1 cup at the same time. I was hoping it would allow smaller portions, such as 1/3 or 1/4 cup, so I could better control their feeding.

Love it!!!
Update: After having this product 3 years, it was still working, but the mechanism inside seemed to be working slower. I decided to opt for an upgrade which includes app control and monitoring of feeding schedule and bonus - no desiccant bags are needed to be purchased (this model requires that). Thr upgrade I chose is named: "PETLIBRO Automatic Cat Feeder, Wi-Fi Rechargeable Cats Food Dispenser Battery-Operated with 30-Day Life, AIR 2.4G Wi-Fi Timed Pet Feeder for Cats & Dogs, 2L Auto Cats Feeder, Whit" When I adopted my kitty, she would wake me up very early (4-5am daily) with her meowing and jumping on the bed because she was hungry. I bought a free-feed pet bowl that would have a constant stream of food so that she could eat when she was hungry. But we discovered she has no self control and she gained a significant amount of weight. This petlibro automatic feeder was my savior and has alleviated so much stress. I feed her 4 small meals throughout the day and night (4:30am x2 servings, 11am ×1 serving, 6pm x 1 serving, and 11pm x1 serving) and this works perfectly for her and our family. She has lost weight with this feeder and is definitely a healthier weight - although still slightly overweight. I wish it was easier to calculate appropriate serving sizes and daily intake as everything is left up to the user to decide/calculate/guess and the portions seem quite large even with just 1 serving selected. Another complaint is that the bowl is quite low to the ground. I placed the whole machine on a little stand which used to hold her previous feeding bowls and this helps raise the bowl to a more comfortable eating height for my adult cat. It would be 5 stars with a custom step to hold the feeder higher and maybe even on their website have a search engine listing suggested serving quantities/frequency for the most common pet foods with listed calories for reference. And the ability to adjust this recommendation on whether you want to help your pet lose or gain weight. Pictured next to the feeder is the petlibro fountain water bowl which I no longer recommend due to build up of sediment inside the pump in places you cannot clean properly.

Beyond Predatory Business Practices and Privacy Policy
I needed to replace an older version of this feeder that broke. The only version with two bowls was the wifi one. I don't need my cat food hooked up to the internet, but I figured it was fine, I'd just not connect it. Unfortunately, this device no longer has controls to set it up without the app. You MUST install the app, and you MUST agree to their privacy policy (which doesn't respect your privacy at all) just to feed your cat. You also have to create an account, you have to tell them what kind of pet you have (including the breed), what your pet weighs, if you think it eats enough, etc. Then before you can even start connecting your device, you're asked to sign up for a subscription service for over $100 a year. For what? I guess to track how much food they eat, to store video files it takes, and take notes. Don't worry though, you'll be asked at least 4 times before your cat is allowed even one morsel of food. After giving a fake email and lying about my pet's info, I decided to check out their privacy policy (that you have to agree to to feed your pet). Here are some highlights: - they collect sound and video (if it has a camera) from your device - they use that information to train AI - they sell that information to 3rd parties (as data to train AI models, not the AI model itself) and marketing firms - they don't "knowingly" record people under 16. But that means they knowingly record people above 16. Don't worry though, they "anonymize your pets data" 🙄 - When you contact support, it immediately authorizes them to view all video and sound related to your device - it specifically asks you to turn on face unlock for the app. I don't use face unlock for my phone. I have the fingerprint scanner set up, and most apps just prompt you to use the biometrics already on your phone. This feels suspicious, but I don't want to make any accusations of abuse without proof - They also collect usage information from your phone. Who knows where that ends, but app has a looong list of trackers built in, and with everything they hoard off the service itself, I don't have high hopes. The best part of all that is they want you to pay them for the privilege of selling your data. You have to trust they aren't keeping and selling more than they say they are, and that they won't have any security flaws that let people hack into your feeder's camera either through your account or locally Look, this is a pet food dispenser. It just needs to feed my cats. It doesn't need a camera, a microphone, internet access, recordings of what's happening in my house, the breed of my cat, or any of this other nonsense. If these were OPTIONAL features for people who are trying to monitor their cats health, that'd be a little more understandable. But you cannot use this device offline, and you can't feed your cats unless you agree to let them train AI with their faces. This product is being blocked from my network and will be returned as soon as I'm back from my trip.

It works good
Have to give couple weeks to see how it goes but so far cats don’t have problems with it. I got the double bowl and camera with 5L. I would definitely get the bigger one 5L. Have to see how long that last with 2 cats. The camera works and is free no subscription required unless you want backup online. Other reviews make it sound like you have to get subscription to see camera. You get live view and notification for free. The amount of cat food dispensed starts at 1/12 of a cup. That very small amount, so you want 1 cup you have to set the app to 12/12. The app lets to set up to 4 cups of food to be dispensed at 1 time. Racoon proof first night. I have raccoons that come on porch at night eat left over cat food. So with the feeder I set to only put out as much food as the cats will eat. The thing holds like 8 pounds of cat food. The raccoons were looking at the feeder but have not tried to get inside or knock top off. The top cover were you fill it up has lock. I believe the dispenser is can’t be reached with paws. Update- Had it for 5 days and I tried dispensing 2 cups in morning and it’s to much food at one time. I got warning about clogged dispenser chute. That was not problem because the cat eat the food in bowls and the extra food fell into bowls. Now I just dispense 1 cup 6:30am. The cats eat that and dispense another 1/2 cup(6/12 cup in app) at 8:30am. Then dispense 1/2 cup at 2 pm and 1/2 cup at 6:30pm. That’s 4 events per day. In the app you can have up to 6 feeding per day. The 2 bowl 5L uses the PETLIT PRO app(there is lite version for other feeders) the Pro app has many settings and notifications you can turn off if you want. Feeding two cats I can probably get 5-7 day with the 5L unit. I should have filled it up to very top first time. I had another stray cat showed up and I did manual feed for him from app. It did disconnect from WiFi 2 time for about 1 hour but it reconnected automatically. I had two firmware updates from the app also. The camera has lots of white out in daytime.

Works great!
Very happy with the feeder! A great option for a single-cat household. The setting-up process is a bit of a hassle but the machine is always responsive so you get used to it. I only wish that the portions were a little smaller so that I can have more control over the quantity of food. I find that for my cat, 1 portion is too little but 2 portions is too much. Nonetheless, once you figure out an overall system for your cat's food, it works out.
