ZOIDS - RZ-046 Shadow Fox (Plastic model) by Kotobukiya

for years, this has been my favorite zoid. and now i have it. this also my first kotobukiya kit and i have to say i am very impressed with it. i was correct when i described this kit as being on par with master grade gundam kits. the heavy part count, the exquisite detail, superb posability. yes it has tiny parts, and they can get lost if youre not careful. but even with that, you can't argue that this kit is amazing.the kit as whole is rock solid. minor gluing is needed in certain places, and you dont need to paint this thing, most of the places where youd usually paint are done with plastic. visually this kit is stunning with the gold and silver plastic breaking up the black. the teeth are very sharp, actually pricked myself and drew blood so do be careful when building it. the az 30mm laser vulcan is fantastic. it can move almost any way you want to it. just like in the show, the turret can be removed and have other back mounted weapons be put onto it. the tail opens up showing the net gun, it can also be removed and be fitted with any attachment that will fit itthose who say that this kit is junk never had the patience to just sit down and build it. i had alot of fun piecing this thing together. it was a stark difference from building gundams and quite the refreshing change. i dont plan on buying the other HMM kits because i have no need to. this is all i need. overall i freaking adore this kit. i proudly display it next to my favorite Gundam, the 00 quanta

Bought this as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. He loved it, the molds were high quality, and it snapped together easier (and seems a little sturdier) than his Kotobukiya Liger Zero (the basic white model) which creaks and doesn't stay in poses as easily. He is going to touch up a few spots with a gold paint pen but it's great quality overall!Shipped quickly, came in the original box, all pieces accounted for and the box was in great shape. I can only hope future models we purchase are the same way!

If you're just looking to get into building Kotobukiya HMM Zoids and you're a bit intimidated by the larger kits, these smaller ones like the Shadow Fox is a perfect fit for beginners just getting into the hobby. If you try to build it in one go like I did it's only a 3-4 hour long build, and it's a surprisingly stable build, I'm not as afraid of it falling apart as I am of the either the Shield Liger or the Green Horn or Gun Sniper.Also the Shadow Fox looks very nice next to the Takara To my Mirage Fox variant I already had, now all that's missing is the Fire Fox HMM kit and I'll have all three.

This was my second model kit (the first being a Master Grade Unicorn Gundam).Difficulty: A little below the MG Gundam. Still quite detailed though. The relatively most difficult part may be the really small parts, especially a few of the orange pieces. You may need tweezers for better control. If you're a beginner, just make sure you have clippers, and it may help to lay out the pieces in alphabetical order as shown in one of my pictures (the highlighting was just to make sure there weren't any missing parts) before you begin to build.To read the instructions, you'll notice on the far left/right borders of each page a body part being highlighted. This tells you what part of the model you'll be constructing. Take a look at my picture showing the steps on how to build the head. In step one, there's a mini box of pieces A(3) and I(5) in what looks like a thought/dialogue box. You generally want to do those first.Still in step 1: Right below that dialogue box, you'll notice the ear piece A(5) and a C(15) with a [1]. This [1] is the first thing you should do, followed by [2]. If you go out of order, you may find yourself blocking access and/or impeding the ability to snap on a different piece. IF THERE ARE NO [1], [2], etc., you don't need to worry about the order of snapping in place.In terms of color, I expected the main body to be dark grey but it's somewhat a dark Navy color. Didn't bother me much, I just didn't expect that. There are a few pieces you may want to consider super-gluing down just to ensure it stays put (it doesn't serve a functional purpose). An example is a piece on the back near the tail. If you extend the tail upwards too far, it will pop this piece off.You may want to use plastic model clippers. And if you're more of a perfectionist, you may want some plastic filers or sandpaper to cleanup areas you snap/clip off.

Wasn't too complicated, did get nervous about breaking a part, but all came out perfect.

Fantastic kit, puts together easy and can be assembled without glue. Some pieces could benefit from a little painting to really make the details pop, but it looks fantastic even without. Be careful with the little ball joint in the belly, it has a tendency to pop out of place if you apply too much pressure. If there is one piece that I'd glue, it would be the plastic around that joint, to keep it from popping apart. Other than that fantastic kit! Great for beginners, and it really holds up. If you are looking for a toy to play with I wouldn't recommend it, it's more fore posing and leaving alone.Also a lot of small pieces, so be careful not to nip off any of the bits when cutting it apart from the sprue!

I literally would tease my friend who loves Shadow fox during my building. It was easy to follow and the pieces though small were simple to put together. My second favorite zoid and I hope to possible get a second one for my nephew for his enjoyment.

Amazingly detailed and a pretty fun build. Definitely one of my favorite models. The instructions are fairly easy to follow. There's a couple hundred pieces so if this is your first build keep that in mind. Do be careful of the teeth. As a lot of people in the reviews have pointed out they're both very sharp and easy to break. I found myself gluing some of the looser joints for extra security, but as far as assembly goes, it doesn't necessarily require gluing. With one or two exceptions the pieces hold together quite well and has a lot of flexibility once fully assembled.

Amazing model to build. Can get in red version too. It is worth getting if you have a love of models.These high master models are so much better and way more fun then the battery operated ones. The HMM ones are mobile and take more time to build whereas the battery ones are stiff and boring. Some pieces are small and finicky but nail scissors and a file worked wonders on getting the pieces out and the spurs off.Shipping was incredibly quick and no damage was done to the box or pieces.Have already ordered more from this seller.Hope others enjoy building these!!

今までHMMは何個か作っていますが、誰かにお勧めするならこのシャドーフォックスだと思います。理由としては、まず全身にこれでもかと言う位仕込まれた引き出し式関節によって柔軟に可動する事。特に首は振り向ける程柔軟で、動かしているだけでも楽しいです。そして第二に、HMMの中でも非常に組み立て易かった事です。サイズの差こそあれど、ブレードライガーの半分以下の時間で組み立てられました。あとはとにかく格好良い事です。ラメ入りの機関部や、金と銀のメッキパーツが黒いボディに本当によく映えます。賛否両論の大きな牙も、見慣れればこれはこれで良いです。因みに完全に閉口して口が開かなくなった場合は、首の下から指を入れて反対側から押してやると簡単に開きます。不満点は殆どありませんが、足首の接続がボールジョイント1つなので、ここだけ可動範囲が狭めです。普通に設地する分には問題無いですが、もう一軸可動部が欲しかったと思います。それを差し引いてもかなり出来の良いキットなので、HMMシリーズの取っ掛かりにも良いと思います。
