Intel NUC 7th Gen LID with Dual USB 2.0 Ports

Finally received, was a Post Office problem, Micro Sata shipped the lid on time.Lid installed and working.

As noted by others, this is a pig to install on a NUC7 (in my case: NUC7PJYH) and I knocked 2 stars off what is otherwise a nice and capable piece for not much money. Not even the google could find install info on the manufacture's site. They said it would work on my nuc, but not how to install it.The apparent path from the top through to the connectors inside is via a slot above the left front microphone. This 'mic blocks half the width of the slot and I couldn't feed the 2 little white usb connectors from the top down.One would go, but the bulk of its wires wouldn't leave enough room for the second. So: the single (wider) white connector unplugs from the lid's circuit board. while this is wider than the room left by the 'mic, by bending the connector sideways on its wire bundle -- the long axis of the connector in a line with the wire bundle -- I was *just* able to fish it from below up to the top and plug it back into the lid, which then clipped nicely into place.Tips:0) Mark one side of each connector and socket with a sharpie -- just a dot -- so you know which way they go back together. Yes they're keyed, but those keys are really hard to see.0.5) unscrew the 4 Phillips screws on the bottom of the nuc.1) remove the SATA data and power cables, set the bottom assembly aside.2) unplug the left microphone's connector from a white socket just down from the SATA power connector. gently move this wire until you eyeball enough light thru the slot above the left 'mic. I used a *small* slotted screwdriver with a thin shaft.3) there are still other wires running along the long edge of the slot -- try to slip the sideways usb connector into the available space. It will catch in several spots so I had to work from both sides of the nuc.I nudged and slipped things with the screwdriver and repositioned the sideways connector to slip thru the available space. after several such adjustments it was through.There's some slack in the usb2 wireing which I pulled into the NUC, just trying to gracefully loop it around so it wasn't in the way of anything. The lid snapped into place and USB2 works -- my keyboard, trackball and wifi adapter are plugged into it.

The lid was not properly compatible with the NUC7i5BNH I bought it for. There appears to be a rectangular hole in the base of the NUC inviting insertion of the USB connectors, but it cannot be used because a cable in the motherboard incurably obstructs this route. A rectangular hole in an adjacent side of the NUC base does allow the USB connectors to pass through and then pass by the motherboard and then with a lot of fiddling the GORITE connectors can then be attached to the motherboard. However the next problem is that because the USB cables have been routed via a side cavity, the result is that the cables do not have a cavity under the lid to occupy them, so the lid cannot close properly. I have reluctantly settled for the lid not being completely closed properly but I hold the view that GORITE need to redesign their product.

I really love the extra 2 usb 2.0 port this gives me. Really easy to install except for the cable management.... long story short i haf to tape tge cable strands neatly on the lid going into the onky available opening....and still a sliver of an opening i can live with. Thats the only reason its not a 5 star.

Bought this to expand USB 2.0 ports on my Intel NUC7PJYH. This item costs 10% of what my barebones NUC costs before shipping. Something to keep in mind and consider if that’s what you would pay for 2 additional USB ports.Not the most intuitive to install. The space where you will need to route the JST connector from topside of your NUC onto the USB header on the PCB is simply too tight. You could route 1 cable easily but routing a 2nd cable is impossible.Easiest way to install is route 1 cable first, use a small flat head (Phillips) screwdriver to unpin the cables from the 2nd connector. Route the unpinned cables through, then resin the cables on to the connector. Refer to the 1st connector that you routed through for order and sequence of the 4 colors (cable order is keyed).The cable length is long so you will need to route and manage the extra length under the cover before you close the lid. Could have included a few clips for cable management under the cover. Careful as you close the lid. I broke 3 clips attempting to do that due to a mess of cables under the lid.Overall, innovative product to maximise headers in the NUC. Cost and ease of install makes it hard to easily recommend to others.

The NUC is a pretty slick piece of gear. But it is a little short of USB ports. I suppose I could get a BlueTooth keyboard and mouse, but I prefer both to be wired. This NUC lid provides two USB 2.0 port which handle the keyboard and mouse perfectly.But...GORITE decided to recycle the mold from earlier NUC versions, but with more stuff crammed into the NUC enclosure, I found it impossible to get the lid fully onto the enclosure and flush due to the routing of the USB wires. The lid only needs 2mm to 3mm more clearance. That doesn't say much for GORITE's attention to detail or to customers.

The lid provides a USB 2 port for mouse/keyboard unified. There was insufficient room in the case to feed both connectors, so I use the unified connector.

Product as described. Perfect. Works great.

It is not fully compatible with NUC7i7BNH. You have to pull the cable through a gap on the side near the memory and drag it to the USB port on the MB but since you are using the gap near the memory, the lid will not close correctly and will have a 1 mm gap on that corner. Maybe spending a lot of time taping it might fix the issue but that should be there by design. It is a design problem by GORITE. Otherwise its good.You get 2 USB 3.0 ports freed because the new low speed 2 USB 2.0 ports can be used for keyboard mouse etc. which free's up the other ports.
