Top rated!
I replaced my old Kidde smoke alarm because it was ten years old, and although still working, Kidde recommends to replace after ten years. This one is wired and has a ten year lithium battery life. It is top rated by CR. Although it didn’t look difficult to connect, if you are already wired, I had a handyman install it. When we tested it, it was loud! It is slightly smaller than my old Kidde alarm from ten years ago, but still covered the hole. Great value as I am safe!

10 year smoke detector
The KIDDE Smoke detector appeared to be a quality build. The fit is satisfactory, it did cover the same area the original smoke detectors took up. The smoke detector came with a wiring adapter that made installation a breeze. The 10 year battery is welcome in that I will not have to listen to a chirping smoke detector that needs a new battery! Let’s hope will never needed it !

well designed detectors
I haven’t tested these for very long but i am impressed so far. I replaced 5 of my smoke and smoke /co detectors because i was having issues with nuisance chirping even with fresh batteries with my 6-year-old firex devices. I decided to quit fooling around with them and replace them all with these. The install was straight forward. Rewired them with new harness (because plug was different) and got them all installed. Put the power on, and they all started beeping. Hmmm, I walked around and looked at each, pwer light was off all of the except for one. ie. Only one had the green light on. I powered down and inspected the wires and caps. The one with the light on had the white wire pulled out of the screw cap. Re-installed it and powered up, it all works perfectly.I like the fact that it alerted me that wiring was faulty. I was surprised to see the wire out but when I pushed the cap back into the electrical box it was awkward, and it popped out somehow. Anyway, all good and tight now.My favorite feature of this is the 10 year built in battery. I go away a lot, my ac power goes out often. So not having to replace the batteries is a big plus for me.These are good units, well designed and simple to install and smart enough to know when something isn’t right.5 stars

Great detectors but one did not work on arrival.
I needed 3 detectors but bought 4 to have a spare. Unfortunately, when we went to install them one of the detectors did not work (we tried them in all 3 of the housings). Fortunately, 3 worked perfectly and we decided to keep them since the noise from the failing smoke detectores made sleep very difficult.

Very good smoke detector.
The Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector with a 10-year battery backup is a good option for those seeking a reliable and convenient smoke detection system for their home. The interconnected feature and reduced false alarms are positive aspects. However, potential buyers should be aware of the possibility of false alarms and reliability issues, as reported by some users. If you're looking for a product that is easy to install, offers a long-lasting battery, and connects to other alarms, this 4-pack is worth considering.

Love it
Was easy to install, no battery problems so far after the first year. Like other smoke detectors, it occasionally suffers from false alarms due to spider invasions. Wish they could fix that. Best thing is I shouldn't have to replace any batteries for the life of the product, if it continues to function as advertised.

Too many nuisance alarms
I researched, purchased, and installed. I want the best for my family and didn't want to deal with those pesky low battery alarms that plagued our last set of smoke detectors. Everything installed great, and I almost forgot about them (seen and not heard sort of thing--as it should be) until last month. While the kids were at school, the detector in my son's room alarmed, setting-off the whole house (while my wife is working from home). Nothing seems to have caused it. I reset it. Two days later, it happened again during the day while I was there. No amount of beeps and lights and internet searching could tell me what was wrong. I called customer service, because one of my kids is on the spectrum and sometimes has sleep issues.Customer service says that it could be dust or a tiny spider and to use compressed air to blow it out. Done. Hopefully, the problem is solved. Nope. A week later the living room detector alarmed. Thankfully during the day.Fast forward to about 10 days ago. Some time after midnight, every detector in the house is alarming due to the garage detector going off. With chest pains from being violently awakened in the night, I removed the garage detector, blew it out with the air compressor, reset it, and left it disconnected on the freezer for tomorrow. Thinking that some dust from shipping must be on all of them, I resigned myself to cleaning them all tomorrow. After some breathing exercises to help flush the adrenaline out my system, I was able to go back to sleep. I thank God that my son seemed to sleep through it.Unfortunately, it happened again about five nights later at about 1am. Same adrenaline rush, same chest pains. I'm writing now because it just happened again around 7pm this evening with the detector in my son's room. Third time with this one, sixth time across three different detectors overall.I was just considering replacing the garage detector with an ion type (these are photo-electric, I think), but now I'm not so sure. I spent over $200 on these for their high rating and ten-year sealed battery, but the low-battery chirp a few times over ten years is starting to look mighty attractive rather than regular, random nuisance alarms.

Easy replacement of old smoke detectors.
Installation was easy and smoke detectors work well and look decent.
